@galesteppes tbh most of our Pacific holdings are uninhabited, and generally natural preserves. Like Johnson Atoll, kingman Reef, Jarvis Island, ect. We have them as WW2 holdovers, and no one cared because no one lives on them.
I dont know enough about the Marianas to say either way. Guam seems decent their GDP and PPP are pretty decent and they dont seem as corrupt as puerto rico or even American Samoa for that matter.
