that is my main problem with Rubin, he has good production, but the interviews are pretty standard and if you know anything about the guest, chances are you won't learn anything new.

Letting the guests talk is good to let them expand on their ideas beyond what most interview settings would let them. But if they're saying nothing, it just becomes a waste of time. Rubin needs to take control in those cases; see how Joe Rogan steered Sargon into specifics.
