I've never understood that comparison because yes, people are chasing better lives, but there's an official process and these people are circumventing the law. Like, I don't agree with how they're being treated, I just think it's dumb to take the risk. Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong and Mexico is so shitty the camps are worth it, which makes me sad about South America more than anything

some are targeted by gangs and cartels but i wouldn't be surprised if most are just leaving because of poverty

in asylum cases those targeted eventually do get asylum after being processed
