Metropolitan Police has over 900 dedicated to investigating hate crime and policing the internet for "hate speech".
Other cities have their dedicated "police hate units" as well.
In 2016 1,696 people were charged and 1,399 convicted for "hate speech", a crime where guilt of the prosecuted is measured by the feelings of the offended.
Chelsea Russell, 19, from Croxteth in Liverpool has been targeted by the police and CPS for reposting rapper Snapp Dog lyrics to her Instagram profile, in tribute to local boy Frankie Murphy who tragically died in a road accident.
This lad had a favourite song. Snap Dogg's I'm Trippin'. His Instagram bio is just eight words. Lyrics from this song with 1.73 million YouTube views.
A rapper used these lyrics in front of thousands of people at the Glastonbury Festival.
So his friends and others in his community reposted those lyrics on their own social media accounts.
Hate crime PC Dominique Walker of Liverpool police took offence to those lyrics and pursued prosecution of Chelsea Russell. Chelsea the only one to be prosecuted for sharing them.
She was found guilty by magistrates of sharing "grossly offensive" content online.
Police is too busy to safeguard our streets. Prosecuting teenagers for "grossly offensive" material on social media is much safer and easier than chasing thugs in the neighbourhoods.
Chelsea's appeal hearing will be heard on 2nd August 10am at Liverpool Crown Court. To show our support to her, and for her right to free expression, Liberalists UK will be holding a demonstration in front of the court on that day. We will bring banners and have a representative attending the court hearing.
