Lol, I can't relate. At the moment I'm in an HHC, we get nice accommodations. Still wish I was in a line company.

2018-05-16 21:33:07 UTC

At least in 2012 it was

2018-05-16 21:33:26 UTC

Can you guys get any degree or does it have to be relevant?

2018-05-16 21:33:41 UTC

I'm getting a business marketing degree.

2018-05-16 21:33:44 UTC

2018-05-16 21:34:07 UTC

I'm not even using the GI bill.

2018-05-16 21:34:12 UTC

Yeah, lots of people don't take advantage.

2018-05-16 21:34:15 UTC

2018-05-16 21:34:29 UTC

Smacked my lips and rubbed by hands together all the way to graduation

2018-05-16 21:34:38 UTC

Gimme my gibs

2018-05-16 21:34:40 UTC

Pretty legit

2018-05-16 21:34:54 UTC

How much though

2018-05-16 21:35:03 UTC

Did you start out as an E-1?

2018-05-16 21:35:15 UTC

Or did you have prior quals to start you higher?

2018-05-16 21:35:40 UTC

It depends

2018-05-16 21:36:14 UTC

I graduated e3 because I had an associates before enlisting

2018-05-16 21:36:35 UTC

Gotcha.

2018-05-16 21:36:52 UTC

So e3 out of basic, also with my security certs and previous experience in the field, I got a pretty good deal

2018-05-16 21:37:01 UTC

Yeah we had oldfags with law enforcement experience or degrees starting as E-4s

2018-05-16 21:37:04 UTC

2k signing bonus. Not much but it helped.

2018-05-16 21:37:06 UTC

felt jealous being a fuzzy.

2018-05-16 21:37:14 UTC

They tried to jew me into 6 years for a higher bonus

2018-05-16 21:37:22 UTC

I did 6 years

2018-05-16 21:37:59 UTC

Not me, it was never going to be a career thing unless something drastically changed. Had some fun times but the pay is just too shit to hang out for too long

2018-05-16 21:38:27 UTC

It was either 6 years with the tuition waiver or a bonus of "up to" 3k, which really means $1500, tbh.

2018-05-16 21:38:42 UTC

Wasn't even a question, I was going 6 years

2018-05-16 21:39:12 UTC

now I'll be in for four years this December with two more to go after that, but I'll probably end up reuping anyway.

2018-05-16 21:39:21 UTC

"of up to" is always horseshit lmao especially when dealing with the government

2018-05-16 21:39:27 UTC

2018-05-16 21:39:54 UTC

Their wording is really important to analyze.

2018-05-16 21:40:12 UTC

Whatever works man, I've known many officers that retire with a masters, get their pensions and go get cushy jobs working for Lockheed or bell, similar companies

2018-05-16 21:40:34 UTC

My recruiter, lol. SHE forgot to get a signature for one of my documents, and I was set to enlist on December 23rd, so she needed it by the New Year.

2018-05-16 21:40:57 UTC

She scanned my documents and placed my signature from another area to the line she forgot to get me to sign.
