My cousins are all deployed that are marines
First and hardest
imagine being some bum E4 going on deployment to Qatar to live in a suite and drive around officers to meetings
Totally stopped them being degens though
Lol I had to bunk with a small army unit once for introductory TACP training, got paid more that month since air force standards are higher lmao.
Talk about flexin
Housing bonus if you're housed at substandard conditions
Lol, I can't relate. At the moment I'm in an HHC, we get nice accommodations. Still wish I was in a line company.
At least in 2012 it was
Can you guys get any degree or does it have to be relevant?
I'm getting a business marketing degree.
Lol
Anything. That GI bill is yours to do what you want with
^
Completely fucking WIRED RN
Pretty cool
I'm not even using the GI bill.
Yeah, lots of people don't take advantage.

Smacked my lips and rubbed by hands together all the way to graduation
Gimme my gibs
Pretty legit
How much though
Did you start out as an E-1?
Or did you have prior quals to start you higher?
It depends
I graduated e3 because I had an associates before enlisting
Gotcha.
So e3 out of basic, also with my security certs and previous experience in the field, I got a pretty good deal
Yeah we had oldfags with law enforcement experience or degrees starting as E-4s
2k signing bonus. Not much but it helped.
felt jealous being a fuzzy.
They tried to jew me into 6 years for a higher bonus
I did 6 years
Not me, it was never going to be a career thing unless something drastically changed. Had some fun times but the pay is just too shit to hang out for too long
It was either 6 years with the tuition waiver or a bonus of "up to" 3k, which really means $1500, tbh.
Wasn't even a question, I was going 6 years
