Look, all human society and civilization exists by displacing the natural environment to serve it's own purpose. Farms displace the natural environment that existed there before the farm. A house has to sit on something that was previously nature. Civilization by it's very nature exploits the natural world. Therefore the question isn't whether or not we're going to exploit the land, it's what system does it the best. That is capitalism. If we're going to do this civilization thing the best way to get goods and services to those who need it it's capitalism. There is no evidence that socialism or communism is better at getting goods and services to those who need it better than a free market capitalist society. Period.
