2018-05-25 21:31:31 UTC

Real teed off by the Irish abortion vote

2018-05-25 21:31:39 UTC

the margin is so big its like no one even tried

2018-05-25 21:33:55 UTC

Im disappointed in the Irish even though i expected this tbh

2018-05-25 21:34:38 UTC

I mean people really believe in the whole you cant legislate morality

2018-05-25 21:34:55 UTC

but following that logic just leeds to anarchy or hypocrisy

2018-05-25 21:35:15 UTC

and none of the cosmopolitans will ever go for anarchy

2018-05-25 21:35:57 UTC

If you did an opinion poll of "Can you legislate morality" it would be sweeping no you can't but ask them about x or Y and they'll want to ban, regulate or decomission something

2018-05-25 21:37:59 UTC

RIP Irish babies 😦 ^^ Breadpill is right, the norm right now is an odd form of social libertarianism where people try to allow anything, but ultimately really just force their lefty morality on others

2018-05-25 21:39:57 UTC

Really everyone has their holy cow, so in a way you can really appreciate the current libertarians honesty, but their economics will never let them hold wide spread institutional power because they aren't giving anything away. They often have to take things away.

2018-05-25 21:40:14 UTC

But really everyone is pretty lined up with them just dont like the ecnomics

2018-05-25 21:40:16 UTC

truth is not objectively moral

2018-05-25 21:40:26 UTC

once you understand that the rest becomes easy

2018-05-25 21:40:54 UTC

I mean I definitely lean libertarian on a moral and philosophical level, but most people are heavily authoritarian without realizing it.

2018-05-25 21:40:55 UTC

I hate the dishonesty of the post moral world because they will never have the gall to be eugenic or anything

2018-05-25 21:41:21 UTC

I want to see the logical conclusion of their stance, hell it could possibly be better than this stupid half way thing we got now

2018-05-25 21:41:26 UTC

True. It's like "babies are just clumps of cells up to a certain point, but human adults are somehow special and must be protected"

2018-05-25 21:41:45 UTC

Agreed, I'd rather "everyone is a lump of cells" than "babies under a certain random date of development are"

2018-05-25 21:43:25 UTC

It wouldn't be so bad if policy was based off of straight up scientism, where they think the scientific method can determine all, but there's always pearl clutching, not necessarily authentic pearl clutching but pear clutching all the same. Throw out racial IQ science cuz we need labor for the growing economy. Throw out any study against women's lib cuz we need their votes. It's just so gay

2018-05-25 21:43:41 UTC

Yeet

2018-05-25 21:44:10 UTC

Liberal democracy is a failed system, or at least we're in a failed application of it.

2018-05-25 21:44:13 UTC

Any stance in politics nowadays where it's claimed to be a moral line not to be crossed it's really just because of needing votes or very self-serving ends

2018-05-25 21:44:15 UTC

Sad but true.

2018-05-25 21:44:27 UTC

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN

2018-05-25 21:44:34 UTC

theres no CHILDREN

2018-05-25 21:44:36 UTC

to think of

2018-05-25 21:45:10 UTC

Oof

2018-05-25 21:45:10 UTC

wow an interesting take from @🎭🎡

2018-05-25 21:45:13 UTC

I feel the same way

2018-05-25 21:45:25 UTC

I believe the peak level of sustainable degeneracy was hit in the 1920s

2018-05-25 21:45:54 UTC

There's a related tactic that people straddling the middle, tugged between two competing belief systems, use in order to undermine any debate in their favor

2018-05-25 21:46:03 UTC

motte-and-bailey tactics

2018-05-25 21:46:34 UTC

named after the medieval fortification which had a simple outer wall (motte) versus the imposing inner keep (bailey)
