A lot of this shit isn't even my speciality, just the kind of retardation you see in movies.
For what it's worth, and I am not using this as an excuse, I think stuff needs to be as accurate as possible and deviations from baseline reality need to be minimalized for maximum effect. This book series is supposed to be both a comedy and pulp novel revival.
Eb is right though with tech stuff. You can probably have a couple of furries really good with tech that help keep the group hidden for realism purposes

I suggest modifying some of their central ideology; humans themselves are impure and trapped by their own machinations, and the system will do everything it can to protect itself. To break the system will likely require a lot of technological prowess and resources.
(They can't survive or even exist in the first place without technology, so there has to be an ideological workaround that gives them carte blanche to use it.)
I will think on that. It's supposed to be about two people fighting quite a few monsters in the forest. Not a small army.

It's why they're so keen on getting the third gens to successfully breed. It would mean they can creat a sustainable populace and don't have to rely on human tech.
Well, their ideology either provides Carte Blanche to use technology "just in this phase of it"(lol), or they don't really ever get started.
Because they'll still need tech to achieve what they want in the later stages.
However, they would still be using things like guns and swords. Not because they are effective weapons, but because they look cool.
That's how thin their idealolgy is. Much like real furries.
A lot of this came from me seeing furries adamantly try to deny their humanity and go on about how terrible human are. It's a constant theme among them.
Or was fifteen years ago anyhow.
While at the same time they could never give up the human made internet. The thing that empowers them.
These people would need a highly unifying ideology, they can't operate unless it also gives them the excuses they need to be able to actually get shit done.
Fringe retards and confirmation bias aren't enough to describe what furries actually are.
Also, refusing to give up tech tells you all you need to know.
And going on about how terrible humans are doesn't mean you won't use their knowledge and tech.
