I don't know much about america but I know that China is using debt to get other countries to "join them" they are also investing in many african nations as a political tool. This could be good to african nations because they are growing the economy but they are also being heavily dependent on china for trade. It's worth noting that it's unclear if china will just screw them over a couple years since they care more about investing in poorer countries for politcal reasons
