I assumed the role of family patriarch over the past couple years. Mostly due to there not being any other viable options. I’m what holds us together it’s an interesting dynamic

I’d imagine your dad has too much clout to over throw lol

2018-11-21 16:20:46 UTC

my old man rose from a welfare family to upper class/high bougie, owns his own company, etc. he's the patriarch lol

2018-11-21 16:20:50 UTC

How much younger is the next male? @William Russell

2018-11-21 16:21:10 UTC

It’s important to do if there’s a vacuum. A death of a grandparent can leave a vacuum and literally dissolve a family in some cases

2018-11-21 16:21:19 UTC

2nd oldest

2018-11-21 16:21:28 UTC

My brother is a criminal tho

2018-11-21 16:21:34 UTC

2018-11-21 16:21:40 UTC

Good on you

2018-11-21 16:22:16 UTC

I’ve taken the younger male cousins under the wing

2018-11-21 16:22:30 UTC

Thanks it wasn’t planned but interesting in retrospect

2018-11-21 16:23:19 UTC

@Sam Southern - TN yea your dad is Chad

2018-11-21 16:24:34 UTC

I’m hosting thanksgiving this year def unusual I’m 27

2018-11-21 16:24:38 UTC

if my mom's dad was still alive, he'd be the unquestioned patriarch. He was the first of his family line to move from farming to white collar jobs, and he took the Old South, Old White money and multiplied it immensely through his job. Absolutely sucks that the cancer took him far too early, I never got to know him on the level that I now wish I had.

Tfw no patriarch in family
Tfw family is individualistic and non-communicative

Sam and I have the benefit of living in Dixie where the Patriarchy is considered noble and not evil.. at least not yet

2018-11-21 16:27:56 UTC

Patriarchy is the way of the South. Long live Dixie!

2018-11-21 16:28:07 UTC

Gender roles are apparent in my community and people like it like that

2018-11-21 16:28:29 UTC

Religion is the basis I think

2018-11-21 16:28:56 UTC

My grandfather was born in 1910. Had 7 kids and had his own oil company where his wife kept the books. Everyone in the town knew him, and he knew everyone. Definitely the patriarch. I would love to be the man like that

2018-11-21 16:29:21 UTC

Sounds like quite the man

2018-11-21 16:30:03 UTC

Now men are goofy and dumb and women make the wise choices don’t you watch tv?

2018-11-21 16:30:08 UTC

Hahaha

2018-11-21 16:30:22 UTC

My great grandfather started Pickett Slide rules. Made a ton of money that then corrupted the family for a generation.

2018-11-21 16:35:55 UTC
