the taxes pay for the perks of political officials mostly

2020-09-20 21:31:08 UTC

One of the ways to lower the cost is all the legal fees and licenses. If you become a foster parent and later adopt a foster, many of the fees, training, and licenses are waved by the state. However direct adoption (not even talking private adoption that can be $100k+) even out of foster care can cost $60k+. While fostering is great, not everyone wants or is able to do that and instead want to just adopt.

Also, you may be aware but beside the child tax benefit you would get anyway, there is an extra tax benefit which I think is a monthly check as long as a child is a foster (thus technically in states care) for foster parents. I don't know how much it is, I'm fairly sure it depends on the child based on their age and if they have any extra extenuating circumstances, but it's actually non insignificant.

2020-09-20 21:33:37 UTC

foster a child, state supports the child and the foster parent, but foster a pet, state washes it's hands and foster parent is req'd to cover all costs and report to mandatory medical checkups for the pet

2020-09-20 21:34:12 UTC

i don't foster pets, i adopt them

2020-09-20 21:34:57 UTC

i cover all the costs anyway...and treat them with love and respect, but i don't have to report to somebody over it

2020-09-20 21:38:03 UTC

@Stargatemaster96 Do you think that would be enough on the scale of hundreds of thousands of kids each year? To incentivize hundreds of thousands of people to adopt/foster?

2020-09-20 21:39:40 UTC

well ironically during hitler's germany ...the state added bonuses to families that raised alot of kids even those that adopted

2020-09-20 21:40:32 UTC

btw, trump already implemented incentives to ppl start families with kids at least a yr ago

2020-09-20 21:44:51 UTC

@natzzmillions_ No, but it also wouldn't hurt. I think the government really needs to make the process easier and make more people aware of all it entails and encourage more people to do it. I think the whole process for most people are wrapped in unknowns. I do also think that some of the work that the state requires need to be reassessed. You practically have to baby proof your house to foster and/or till an adoption completes regardless of the child's age. It's really a nanny state many places. Some states don't even let you own a gun while fostering, not just require there arbitrary safe storage requirements. You also have the many assessments and meetings foster parents have to attend that are particularly difficult for working families, particularly ones where both parents work or single parent households.

2020-09-20 21:46:20 UTC

locally, i see more and more grand parents and great grand parents raising their own kids's kids because their own kids have no idea how to properly raise kids

2020-09-20 21:49:57 UTC

That's also a sad state of our culture but it's also I see the best case for a bad situation. At least in that case the kids are staying inside the family.

2020-09-20 21:52:51 UTC

i kinda noticed this shit happened when i used to babysit ..parents having no clue and having to hire a decent sitter to teach and tutor their own kids

2020-09-20 21:53:32 UTC

btw, i normally took a painter's grade gas mask with me on those times when the kid was still in diaper phase

2020-09-20 21:54:53 UTC

That said, the state trys to keep kids inside the family as much as possible, sometimes to the detriment of the child. A family friend fosters and adopts special needs kids and has had long legal fights to try and adopt one of the kids who was abused as a child and now has mental problems. Only after the child started making improvements did an aunt and uncle show interest in the child (that and the tax benefit of taking in the kid who is now special needs). The fee times the Aunt and uncle took temporary custody as trial runs they did not take care of the kids properly, didn't take him to all the physical and mental therapies, and didn't show up in court. However the state tried multiple times to place the kid with them rather then my family friends who loved and cared for the kid for years. Eventually my family friends got full custody and adopted him but it was a three year legal fight.

2020-09-20 21:56:35 UTC

most of the 'foster' families i've seen locally were run by ppl that work for the state or local gov..and normally end up having a hired work slave paid for by the state but as their 'fostered' child

2020-09-20 21:57:44 UTC

Those types of people are unfortunately attracted by the tax credits and monthly paychecks from the state.

2020-09-20 21:59:47 UTC

However sometimes to help more people be able to foster and adopt you have to wade through those people. Ideally you would only have loving and caring families fostering and adopting but we live in a corrupted world. There is a difference between a kid being expected to help around the house or help with lawn care and only getting kids for that purpose.

2020-09-20 22:00:51 UTC

well the foster care system has been abused alot for slavery and sex slavery ...even predators have been found to be using it

2020-09-20 22:02:21 UTC

Which is completely unforgivable in my mind, not only would you do things like that but to damaged and vulnerable kids takes it to a different level of evil.

Tech question for the mods. Is there any way you can lock the music bot into the music channel permanently? Perhaps a password to use commands?

2020-09-21 14:56:03 UTC

There is a way to lock the bot into specific channels, however, this can only be done by Smokie. We will discuss it so it can be done. If you are having an issue, please feel free to ask a Zeducated member or mod for help.

2020-09-22 17:15:06 UTC

So. why do the people call Mitch McConnell as Cocaine Mitch and also say that Nancy Pelosi is drunk with vodka?

2020-09-22 21:28:31 UTC

for Pelosi, her emeanor and behavior make her seem drunk all the time, and I'm not sure why Mitch has that nickname

2020-09-22 21:29:33 UTC

@Einstein Nnaji Here is an article on McConnel's situation (bias is likely) https://apnews.com/da3f87e9c5da4e12b4022b0bd84f59ec

2020-09-23 02:07:46 UTC

Lmao

2020-09-23 07:33:45 UTC

Do you think that Pelosi will spend a million of our tax dollars on golden pens to sign the impeachment of the president again?

2020-09-24 03:17:27 UTC

What do you guys think about no knock raids?

2020-09-24 03:19:32 UTC

bad idea

2020-09-24 03:20:20 UTC

if i lived in an area with no-knock raids, i'd be installing boobytraps

2020-09-24 03:21:30 UTC

if they're going to remove my right to peacefully respond to a warrant, then i'll remove the right for them to enter my home peacefully without my permission

2020-09-24 03:57:02 UTC

What do you think of the Breonna Taylor case then?

2020-09-24 04:01:07 UTC

well according the info provided about it...it's been under observation for weeks...for drug dealing...sounded like a valid raid

2020-09-24 04:01:53 UTC

and information released on the actual warrant details said no knock was allowed but they never implemented it, they did normal knock warrant

2020-09-24 04:02:48 UTC

also breonna was not near her bed nor on it at the time of her death, she was armed and firing back along with her bf

2020-09-24 05:31:18 UTC

Fair enough

2020-09-25 10:42:08 UTC

I don't like Mitch but man threats are not cool.

2020-09-25 15:50:55 UTC

@Deleted User yo, I was talking about that in vc yesterday but I didnt have any sources for what actually happened so I couldnt back it up. Could you ping me with the links/sources you have? I'd be really grateful. Thank you!
