Conservatives are all about small government but I feel like while Conservative legislators legislate and Judges Judge,Conservative presidents do way more than just enforce.

2020-11-17 05:58:41 UTC

My question is,Which would be good for the country in the long term,A Republican president that is basically a dictatorship lite that slashes regulations and writes a ton of EOs with dismantling the alphabet soup and costly entitlement programs or a Republican that just listens to Congress and Supreme Court and leaves a lot of power to both other branches and states while just sitting back and JUST enforce.

@isoboto thank you

2020-11-17 06:20:54 UTC

Shit, didnt notice my dad joke was posted here.

2020-11-17 06:56:49 UTC

Well the jurisdiction of those regulations and alphabet soup was used by previous presidents.

2020-11-17 06:57:21 UTC

Dismantling or removing them would basically be taking away power from himself anyways.

2020-11-17 07:00:23 UTC

No matter how much I might try to disagree with the very principle of non-enforcement by the president, he has that power that would be difficult to take away nowadays, and he may as well use it for good.

@DeathBone

I think the aspect of EO’s is new, due to Obama deciding to expand the powers of the executive branch with it. I think overall it’s been bad. Bad with Obama, bad with Trump. That being said I don’t think a President needs to write EO’s to block funding to the alphabet soup of social programs. Instead, they just need to use the veto powers they’ve had to force the hand to lessen spending for the social programs. Also, leaving the Supreme Court to rule on constitutional issues is the way it should be. ACA challenges would be nice to see in the house or senate, but I’m fine if it is ruled unconstitutional in the Supreme Court.

When was the party switch

2020-11-17 17:31:07 UTC

Well for one, the party switch never happened.

2020-11-17 19:20:55 UTC

Executive Orders definitely arent new. FDR issued over 3,000 EOs during his reign.

Thanks

Who are the proud boys and are they good or bad?

2020-11-18 14:19:27 UTC

the proud boys in the simplest term, a national group for patriotic men to join and be apart of something, it was originally a joke by Gavin McInnis but the people who joined took pride in it and it became its own actual group. They will sometimes go protest and counter-protest against ANTIFA but they usually don't go looking for a fight, but they will defend themselves.

2020-11-18 18:07:11 UTC

Why do people say the parties switched?

2020-11-18 18:13:49 UTC

@John West, it is an attempt by the Democrats to disavow their own party's history of slavery and oppression.

2020-11-18 18:29:15 UTC

Since MI reversed, and decided to certify the election results, can Trump still challenge that? Does that take place in the state supreme court?

2020-11-18 19:13:59 UTC

they decide to certify the result on the ground that the votes have to be audit. i'm not sure if they're going to the supreme court

Guys, I need your help. My elder brother who is a leftist, shared this article with me cuz I'm using Parler. Tell me what this is and how I should respond. Please. https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20201116/01141545710/what-if-cambridge-analytica-owned-own-social-network-ca-backer-rebekah-mercer-admits-shes-co-founder-parler.shtml

2020-11-19 04:53:06 UTC

Parker doesn't require you to verify yourself, you can by choice
Also, Parler does support free speech but they will ban users if they don't follow the community guidelines
You can show your brother the disclaimers and the guidelines provided by the app

2020-11-19 04:54:20 UTC

I'm pretty sure if certain people create enough chaos and get a lot of reports from other users they'll have to be banned

2020-11-19 04:54:48 UTC

But that article is extremely biased

2020-11-19 04:56:55 UTC

Needless to say, your brother can't control which media platform you can and can't have

2020-11-19 05:00:09 UTC

I'd remind my brother that I can think and research for myself. I don't need a mega corporation, with obviously biased employees, to give their 2 cents on what they "believe" to be factual or not.

2020-11-19 05:01:30 UTC

...but we're in our 40s.

2020-11-19 05:04:55 UTC

Idk if people even read community guidelines lol

2020-11-19 05:05:38 UTC

Is that all there is to Parler's policy?

2020-11-19 05:08:01 UTC

Pretty much the community guidelines

2020-11-19 05:08:12 UTC

I think there's 2 policies
