Which is a good point. I think generally speaking, people should be smarter before voting. A lot of idiots who vote now who have no clue what they are voting for.
I think we should raise the age to 21, unless you are active military.
well if they can't be trusted with alcohol, smoking and vaping(in some areas)...then they can't be trusted with voting
I would say its a 40 60 split for the dems between my generation im a gen z a lot of libtards in my school
i propose a test for viability of intelligence, ask them if they live in a republic or a democracy
if they reply 'democracy' ..it's fail and they can't vote
A democratic republic
actually it's a constitutional republic
theres no mention of the word 'democracy' in the constitution nor the bill of rights
I think you should have to own land or something like that because you need do have skin in the game
own land and or have a steady job
And I dident know that thanks
Yes agree
i don't have a steady job but i do own my home...no mortgage
Because if you don't do Jack shit you also wouldent care what happend to everyone elso
And communism sounds good when you domt have anything to loose
ship them out to cuba or some other depressed communist nation(not china)...see how they like their 'rights' and their pure communism system
Yes
With so *much* economic prosperity
Ligit a game with infinite spawning enemies has a better economy that cuba
or finally discover whats it's like to be in a cuban prison
I believe all these things that are set at 21 should be dropped to 18 or move everything to 21 including draft. If you can be forced to go to war, you should be able to vote, drink, smoke, etc. I'm also over 21 so I'm not even saying this to be able to do anything I can't already do.
My main issue with raising the minimum age for things is that there's a pretty large group of folks that would suddenly note able to do certain things. I'm 19, and if I found out I can no longer vote, I would be livid.
Just like how I was angry when I found out I could no longer buy tobacco products.
If I was American and was over 18 and civil war broke out, I would join a militia or alternatively I would join the main army
But I am neither American nor over 18
I'm torn on the voting thing. Part of me says leave it as is, another part thinks requiring proof of being a taxpaying citizen would be wise
And that age is largely arbitrary
Idk if requiring taxes to vote should be a thing. You still are effected by the outcome if you pay taxes or not.
Like i dont pay income tax or property taxes on my property.
Yet i 100% vote
Requiring someone to pay taxes is putting a paywall on your rights
It has issues, for instance i really dont like the idea of stay at home mothers being excluded due to not paying taxes either.
When it comes to rights like that if it takes them away from a single person dumpster the idea
But I feel that the founders might have been onto something with the idea of voting rights required being a landowner
Well that made the land the voter and not the person
So i disagree with that as well. Since there would be a huge majority of the country that wouldnt be able to vote since they only rent
Right
All rights should be behind the same age gate. I dont care about smoking that could be 30 and i still wouldnt care
I'm more trying to point out the concern of a welfare state thats been creeping in bit by bit
