It’s not very big but I’m glad I have it

2020-10-07 18:17:54 UTC

That waterproof container is chock full of cliff bars and it also has dryer lint, matches, and water purification tablets

2020-10-07 18:19:23 UTC

It’s mostly for wilderness survival rather than urban survival because I put it together for my wilderness survival class

> What up BYU peeps! I went to LDSBC/ENSIGN college! 🙌
@SumoDuckie
Ah my cousin went to LDSBC!

Arise and shout!!

2020-10-13 18:51:54 UTC

Just got some food storage this week. Not a ton, but I’m getting it little by little

2020-10-13 19:48:31 UTC

ooh

2020-10-13 21:28:12 UTC

I have a real nice thermos water bottle i got with a bug out bag i got at a retreat, but it has no way to be clipped onto the bag. Is there any sort of item that can wrap around the bottle and be attached to the bag? Or should i just spend money and save time and get something designed for a bug out bag?

2020-10-14 17:49:03 UTC

I would do myself Paracord Macrame bottle holder.

We good on MREs lol

2020-10-14 22:26:17 UTC

Nice, I've always been a fan of MREs over freeze dried food simply because where we live, water is incredibly few and far between.

Speaking of, is there anyone that may have a recommendation on where to look for making a solar powered pump for water? We have our own well, but it's tied into the local power grid and I was wanting to do something that would allow the pump to continue even if the power went out.

2020-10-15 13:35:12 UTC

@Scott_Cole my grandparents got a backup generator for their well. It won't stay running forever, but it keeps the water on when the power is out for a short while

2020-10-15 13:36:06 UTC

@chexbox Thanks, I'll look into that, might be a little easier to set up than what I had planned.

2020-10-15 13:37:25 UTC

they just used some sort of switch mechanism so that the generator power can't backfeed into the grid
you don't won't to hurt someone working on the lines because they assume the power is out

@Anke good thing i bought some paracord at the surplus store then. I’m pretty intuitive and can probably figure it out

2020-10-15 14:27:00 UTC

@DarkValorSoul I think you also need a Carabiner

2020-10-15 14:29:01 UTC

Gotcha. I’ll have to pick up a few

2020-10-15 14:29:31 UTC

The ones that screw closed? Those are typically heavy duty right?

2020-10-15 19:37:14 UTC

@chexbox Oooh right, never thought of that.

2020-10-16 18:55:53 UTC

@DarkValorSoul exactly 😉 the srew closed are the best

2020-10-17 06:06:42 UTC

Serious?

2020-10-17 06:06:44 UTC

Prepping?

2020-10-17 06:36:57 UTC

yes...?

2020-10-17 06:37:16 UTC

Oh he's gone 🤣

2020-10-17 06:37:23 UTC

Couldn't handle the epicness

2020-10-18 21:13:52 UTC

I think silver coins is better than gold coins for prepping. If shtf scenario happens and you need something to trade with finding a item worth the value of gold would be hard but silver is alot more affordable for the common person right now

2020-10-18 22:20:27 UTC

Isn't most gold supposedly in all of those sunken pirate ships?

2020-10-18 23:57:37 UTC

There's supposedly a lot on the sunken Spanish ships, even by today's standards it's a lot

2020-10-19 03:32:55 UTC

They did love their gold

2020-10-19 03:44:29 UTC

Just didn't love their ships enough to make them good

2020-10-19 04:48:11 UTC

"Why did we use graphite tipped rods?, well, it's the same reason that we use low grade refined uranium and are the only nation that uses a water cooled reactor system with a positive void coefficient, it's cheaper"

2020-10-19 04:48:24 UTC

I'm paraphrasing but you get the gist

2020-10-19 13:31:14 UTC

Could I make it rich searching for sunken treasure?

2020-10-19 13:31:20 UTC

Maybe that'll be my job

2020-10-19 13:31:50 UTC

You'd have to find it, but yeah

2020-10-21 03:07:37 UTC

@Scott_Cole you could power a well with solar, but you'll likely need to go with a 24 or 48V (dc) setup to get the 240V AC needed for a well. I'd find out the horsepower of the pump, as 1hp = ~750 watts (theoretically)
Feel free to DM me if you have any questions

2020-10-21 07:20:29 UTC

My well is 220. i have a generator ans pile of gas.

2020-10-22 03:38:21 UTC

That's probably the smarter way to go tbh
