What up BYU peeps! I went to LDSBC/ENSIGN college! ๐
Did you notice the extra stress put on preparation in Conference? ๐ I am certainly feeling it. Been following Glenn Beck on the possibilities of Cival War too.
Don't get yourselves overwhelmed with prepping. It can be as simple as, this month I am going to buy two costco toilet papers instead of one. ๐ This month I am going to spend $50 on canned meats. Etc.
If you drink milk, you can save your gallon containers to preserve water in. Pretty sure you just add a tsp. Of bleach, but don't hole me to that. You should look it up. The bleach stops mold and bacteria from growing in the water though.
Yooooo I didnโt expect so many BYU people here
According to google, itโs 8 drops of bleach per gallon of water
This is my 72 hour kit
Itโs not very big but Iโm glad I have it
That waterproof container is chock full of cliff bars and it also has dryer lint, matches, and water purification tablets
Itโs mostly for wilderness survival rather than urban survival because I put it together for my wilderness survival class

@SumoDuckie
Ah my cousin went to LDSBC!
Arise and shout!!
Just got some food storage this week. Not a ton, but Iโm getting it little by little
ooh
I have a real nice thermos water bottle i got with a bug out bag i got at a retreat, but it has no way to be clipped onto the bag. Is there any sort of item that can wrap around the bottle and be attached to the bag? Or should i just spend money and save time and get something designed for a bug out bag?
I would do myself Paracord Macrame bottle holder.
We good on MREs lol
Nice, I've always been a fan of MREs over freeze dried food simply because where we live, water is incredibly few and far between.
Speaking of, is there anyone that may have a recommendation on where to look for making a solar powered pump for water? We have our own well, but it's tied into the local power grid and I was wanting to do something that would allow the pump to continue even if the power went out.
@Scott_Cole my grandparents got a backup generator for their well. It won't stay running forever, but it keeps the water on when the power is out for a short while
@chexbox Thanks, I'll look into that, might be a little easier to set up than what I had planned.
they just used some sort of switch mechanism so that the generator power can't backfeed into the grid
you don't won't to hurt someone working on the lines because they assume the power is out

@Anke good thing i bought some paracord at the surplus store then. Iโm pretty intuitive and can probably figure it out
@DarkValorSoul I think you also need a Carabiner
Gotcha. Iโll have to pick up a few
The ones that screw closed? Those are typically heavy duty right?
@chexbox Oooh right, never thought of that.
@DarkValorSoul exactly ๐ the srew closed are the best
Serious?
Prepping?
yes...?
Oh he's gone ๐คฃ
Couldn't handle the epicness
I think silver coins is better than gold coins for prepping. If shtf scenario happens and you need something to trade with finding a item worth the value of gold would be hard but silver is alot more affordable for the common person right now
Isn't most gold supposedly in all of those sunken pirate ships?
There's supposedly a lot on the sunken Spanish ships, even by today's standards it's a lot
They did love their gold
Just didn't love their ships enough to make them good
"Why did we use graphite tipped rods?, well, it's the same reason that we use low grade refined uranium and are the only nation that uses a water cooled reactor system with a positive void coefficient, it's cheaper"
