I was going through my old X-Men comics where Longshot joined the team and they fought Juggernaut

2020-10-25 19:39:51 UTC

Longshot was pretty awesome back in the day.

I just realized that late 2000 movies had a shitton of blue filter on

2020-10-25 22:38:12 UTC

Blue and pink lighting, too. They literally call it "bisexual lighting".

PFFT

2020-10-26 04:21:46 UTC

To be honest, I want practical effect 90s type movies to make a comeback

2020-10-26 05:04:04 UTC

Yeah. It's almost a lost art.

2020-10-26 05:37:04 UTC

Remember when George Lucas turned the world of special effects on it's ear?

2020-10-26 06:55:19 UTC

Miniatures and models definitely need to come back

2020-10-26 06:55:31 UTC

One of my favorite techniques in old movie effects

2020-10-26 06:59:28 UTC

Oooo, and puppets and stuff too

2020-10-26 06:59:46 UTC

All kinds of practical effects need to come back

2020-10-26 08:05:53 UTC

Alien is still scary because of it

2020-10-26 08:28:51 UTC

And those rubber sheets used in horror films?

2020-10-26 08:29:13 UTC

> Remember when George Lucas turned the world of special effects on it's ear?
@Vinz Clortho I will say, Episode I still looks surprisingly solid a lot of the time

2020-10-26 09:40:28 UTC

Speaking of... Still sad Netflix canceled a second season of the dark crystal :/

2020-10-26 09:58:16 UTC

Don’t want to sound like a boomer but, have you any of you read Fydor Dostoyevsky the Russian author? Who wrote books such as crime and punishment, which I personally think is a great book.

2020-10-26 13:20:24 UTC

I watched the Barbarians on Netflix and I liked it. There was some weaknesses and historic inaccuracies but overall a lot more authentic than most historical big drama productions. And I liked it for this reason as well

Maybe he knows more than we do

2020-10-26 16:29:11 UTC

last one he's onto to something but the other two are just stupid

2020-10-27 02:55:13 UTC

@Isaac the XIV Me too have a crush on Tostoevsky. Tho every time i need to gather enough courage to sit down and read a book of his. The brothers karamazov is my all time favorite.

@Isaac the XIV Yesss. I read is one book on (idealized socialism?) I can't remember the name of the book but it's scary stuff yet thought provoking

2020-10-27 03:28:42 UTC

Sidenote, *Poltergeist* is a masterpiece and people can't change my mind about that. While not incredibly scary, it had its moments and it was a movie about love and family first and a horror film second, giving it a beautiful sense of awe and wonder that is ignored these days. The soundtrack was perfection.

2020-10-27 05:39:59 UTC

Demons ?

2020-10-27 05:40:09 UTC

I like the idiot as well

2020-10-27 14:07:28 UTC

Notes from Underground! That was it!

2020-10-27 16:10:24 UTC

Spoilers for Notes from Underground ||Imagine having the psychological power to cause someone to bite their hand so hard it bleeds without even having to touch them though||

2020-10-27 19:47:26 UTC

Yeah that’s a great book

2020-10-27 19:49:02 UTC

But unfortunately I’m not able to read the part were it talks about philosophy, because I’m only young and that section confuses the crap out of me. But the story section were he talks to the prostitute is interesting.

2020-10-27 23:26:38 UTC

Yeah, it's a confusing book. I'm twenty and I can't understand it that well

2020-10-27 23:29:40 UTC

I'm reading Peter F. Hamilton's The Reality Dysfunction. Good stuff, except he has an anti-religion rant at one point, and he likes to use made-up future words without immediate context.

2020-10-27 23:31:59 UTC

i've been reading seven pillars of wisdom (autobiography of lawernce of arabia) great stuff, takes some patiences but great stuff

2020-10-28 09:03:47 UTC

I reccomend the movie called, as far as my feet will carry me

2020-10-28 23:22:26 UTC

I can't believe I'm asking for this, but is anyone here familiar with anime, specifically the Gundam stuff? I want to start watching it, but I have no idea where to start.

2020-10-28 23:28:39 UTC

uhh nope, I've only watched 10 minutes of Girls und Panzer, Yu-Gi-Oh, Avatar, and Legend of Korra

2020-10-28 23:31:17 UTC

I'm not a big anime watcher, but I liked the older stuff. Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, etc.

2020-10-29 00:00:26 UTC

Oh well, figured I'd ask here before I had to start looking elsewhere, appreciate it anyway

2020-10-29 01:20:21 UTC

I just rewatched a clip from The Hate U Give and honestly
I think both girls are in the wrong during the Starr vs Hailey scene and I think the lead needs to stop accusing random people of being racist

2020-10-29 01:22:03 UTC

||Like I get it that the girl told her that she needs to "get over" the death of her friend but like - girl. *He sold drugs. He had a hairbrush that looked like a weapon.* And if a white girl started doing to me what Starr does to her classmate, I'd be scared too. You don't just whip something out and start addressing someone as if you have a gun in their hand, especially when you start closing in on them and screaming at them.||

2020-10-29 03:12:41 UTC

I think my mom has the book for that, didn't know there was a movie
