haven't had any issues, and have moved states. if you do, be sure to file your 5320.20 and call them like weekly to be sure they got it and it was approved

2020-11-24 07:33:46 UTC

you'll want to start the process and know your next address at least 2 months ahead of time just in case there's any issues

2020-11-24 07:34:29 UTC

I goofed on my first file and forgot a checkbox or something silly like that. called, resubmitted. easy fix.

2020-11-24 07:35:27 UTC

also be sure to know the state laws, can't really move to any state that doesn't allow NFA items

my sister is writing an essay, and she needs some good sources against gun control, anyone got anything good on hand?

2020-11-24 08:19:39 UTC

One sec

2020-11-24 08:20:53 UTC

That's a solid one

2020-11-24 08:21:24 UTC

Is there a certain direction she's trying to go with it?

2020-11-24 08:22:47 UTC

Here's another one

2020-11-24 08:22:58 UTC

NPR is always a good source

2020-11-24 09:19:33 UTC

Thanks!
I don't know what direction she's taking, she just needed something solid to base her argument on

@LegoGenius16 One specific issue that's been beaten to death on the pro-gun side: The FBI crime data clearly does not show that "assault rifles" are a problem. If you go to table 8... here is the data from 2013 to 2017: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls

2020-11-24 11:02:33 UTC

@LegoGenius16 You could also make a reasonable argument that states with very strict gun control have statically similar gun related homicides to those with little to no gun control beyond federal guidelines... you could also drill down to cities and look at homicides. The raw data is murky; but here is the link to the violent crime tables:

2020-11-24 11:10:19 UTC

The general theme: More people were beaten, stabbed, etc than shot with rifles. Overwhelmingly, the number of gun related homicides are attributed to handguns. It does not really parse out legal possession vs. illegal possession. No one talks about the numbers in places like south Chicago... it doesn't fit the narrative.

2020-11-24 11:15:05 UTC

I wrote a paper about that in an engineering statistics class. I used the Bay area vs. Phoenix and used a paired t-test, taking into account the argument of gun control in the two metro areas. Maybe I'm talking smack here; but unlike statistics used in humanities related fields, that used quantifiable numbers based on hard data not quantitative numbers based on a qualitative response... how many people "feel" gun control is needed is not a valid argument.

More people are killed each year by Fist and Hammers than AR-15s. And when I say killed, I mean murdered.

Accurate fact checks in the toon, in a saterical way.

AR or AK?

What body armor do people have or plan on getting at some point? AR500 has a black friday sale in right now with BOGO on many of their steel armor including their Level3+ curved. I know a lot of people dislike AR500 because if the potential spalling if you break off enough of the protecting spall coat. Has anyone bought AR500 or what do you have?

2020-11-24 18:01:24 UTC

I guess ar500 is more durable though, so probably a better option if your going to carry it on a daily basis in bag or something.

2020-11-24 18:01:44 UTC

I have no exp with body armor, but in my mind, if it saves my life, who cares.

2020-11-24 18:03:22 UTC

One of the advantages of AR500 is it has no set lifespan. Most body armor starts breaking down over time but steel obviously doesn't. It's an advantage for me when it's one of those investments you hope you never need to really use but if you do you want to know it's still good even if it's 20 years down the road.

2020-11-24 18:04:32 UTC

exactly my thoughts

2020-11-24 18:05:52 UTC

If you buy ar500 don't take off the protecting spall coat because that is what is helping stop the spalling. Also if you buy it try dipping it in truck bed coating it can help catch the fragments when the bullet hits.

2020-11-24 18:06:39 UTC

The spall coating on it is basically bed coating from what I understand.

2020-11-24 18:06:41 UTC

whats the dif between level 3, 3+, and 3A again?
