off topic, but did anyone ever notice this in the first episode of the BSG series? Old, I know, but a Science Fiction geek... Look close, its a Firefly.

It was a cool add-in for anyone who caught it.

No joke... it had a lot of promise. A little cheesy, but so what. It was cool in its own way. Way to go with the fan base. Somehow they got Serenity through... but they could have done better.

BSG was ahead of its time too.

Not too many go Sci-Fi space movies/series. The expanse was pretty good. It got a little weird with season 4, but at least they didn't cancel it.

Similar themes recycling...

The oppressive UN/Centralized government.

So many references to current issues. The Belters are an oddly disjointed group as well. They did an awesome job at character development. Ashford and Drummer turned out to be heroes, Amos and Bobbie are awesome, even Avasarala has reasonable depth.

Can't wait for season 5...

@Winnie37a Totally bombing the conversation. The bolt is normally the same. You obviously need to build it from an action that supports .308. 6.5CM is a necked down .308 Winchester essentially. Obviously you need a new barrel and I'd drop in a new bolt to go with it just so they wear together. I assume AR10? Sometimes they're a little more problematic as there are several different dimensional standards for receivers, unlike the AR15 platform.

Barrel swaps are usually a piece of cake for the ARs. Check the headspace just to be sure. I've never had a problem, but worth checking. Go/No-Go gauges are cheap and at least give you an idea if it's reasonably safe or not.

Absolutely has to be an AR10 or something larger (If we're talking AR's exclusively). I think Nemo makes a .338LM and a few others in their extended action, but that's something entirely different. I've heard the 6.5 Grendel was a good intermediate range cartridge for the AR15; but that was before the .224 Valkyrie. I haven't shot either but the velocities are good an the BC's are relatively high for the heavier bullets. I do like my 6.5CM.

Depends on what you want to do. I personally love to ding the steel plates as far out as I possibly can. The range I usually shoot at had a target at ~900 yards. Where I'm at, its hard to find a place to stretch it out farther with a good line of sight, a good backdrop, and no random ATV traffic.

Totally ripped this from some random video and added the caption... for the kids

Turned this into....

of course added the 922r parts...

Nice. How is the backpressure on that?

I have a Rugged Surge 7.62 and pretty much every semi-auto I have sucks to shoot with it except my 300BLK with subs.

bummer

My STG58 has the standard FAL adjustable system, but it still sucks with the gas vent all the way open.

That system basically bleads off the excess gas like the KNS. It cycles, but its still over-gassed. I could change them out on my ARs, but I don't want to take off the fixed FSP. I also have a TAVOR. No hope for that one.

Its pretty easy to change out the fixed FSP on the ARs, I just don't want to take out the taper pins... there will always be the holes in the barrel. At least with the AKs, it's like changing the gas piston in general. And it's hidden.

Its ok. It's supper cool to shoot bolt action suppressed. I almost always have that can on my RPR in 6.5CM. I'm really wanting an OSS, but it's like 9 months + with form 4s.

Its like the ancestor of hipnotoad... really cool colors

Anyone do a E-form form 1 lately? I heard the wait times were reasonable. I'm thinking of trying to get ahead of the pistol brace problem...

Denpasar Bali near the airport.

Had that issue with a Form 4 before... was the shop's fault on the SN. It was pretty easy to fix with the ATF

Do you have to do the engraving right away? I've got a trust. A lot of shops want to sell stuff but don't know much about SBR conversions. Someone recommended I get the engraving done before I submit the form 1.

Never done a form 1 before.

@LegoGenius16 One specific issue that's been beaten to death on the pro-gun side: The FBI crime data clearly does not show that "assault rifles" are a problem. If you go to table 8... here is the data from 2013 to 2017: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls

@LegoGenius16 You could also make a reasonable argument that states with very strict gun control have statically similar gun related homicides to those with little to no gun control beyond federal guidelines... you could also drill down to cities and look at homicides. The raw data is murky; but here is the link to the violent crime tables:

The general theme: More people were beaten, stabbed, etc than shot with rifles. Overwhelmingly, the number of gun related homicides are attributed to handguns. It does not really parse out legal possession vs. illegal possession. No one talks about the numbers in places like south Chicago... it doesn't fit the narrative.

I wrote a paper about that in an engineering statistics class. I used the Bay area vs. Phoenix and used a paired t-test, taking into account the argument of gun control in the two metro areas. Maybe I'm talking smack here; but unlike statistics used in humanities related fields, that used quantifiable numbers based on hard data not quantitative numbers based on a qualitative response... how many people "feel" gun control is needed is not a valid argument.

I'd support repealing the 86 Full auto ban, abolishing SBRs, SBSs, and silencers as NFA items. We can keep the NFA if we can get new full autos at normal market prices... +$80 for the third selector position...

Nah, get rid of it altogether.

Things are getting strange lately... saw two guys almost getting in a fist fight outside of Sportsman's Warehouse over someone getting the last of something...

@f***urfeelings The ones we have today are not data driven... they're based on public opinion...

Maybe ammo. I've got a ton of brass, but not a whole lot of powder and bullets.

Just like banning the import of 7n6 and its replacement... because one dude used it for something bad. I'm really not sure which incident pushed that one.

We're really close to a Port Arthur moment here. The way the dems are attacking 2A like it's obsolete. We really do have to watch for the dumb dumbs who probably shouldn't own because they're a little unhinged... but that didn't work for Parkland... Thanks FBI!

It's close... it feels that way. I really hope not; but it does have that smell.

I can't remember the number, but between complete rifles and receivers, there are almost as many legally owned guns in the US as people...

for some reason, they think only a few people out there have ARs, AKs, etc.

Don't forget Maxine's comment "Its as heavy as 10 moving boxes..." They have no idea.

One of my ex GF's nieces was afraid of coming into the house because she knew I owned... totally irrational fear... It's not going to seek her in the middle of the night by itself...

She was a SoCal girl... they are really indoctrinated there.

hahahaha... George Carlin: "Hears another group of people who should be thrown from a helicopter screaming" One of his funniest skits

Here's...

This was when my collection was small.... Am I an evil person? Liberals say "yep"

The current left is defiantly a product of western indoctrination using the liberated pst WWII European model... my ex-wife is from western Germany. She's on the far left and feels guns should be illegal and violence is justified if it's against anyone on the right. She also wouldn't cook, clean, fold the laundry, or work. My Filipina GF is fairly conservative. She likes to go shooting, cooks, cleans, does all the things my ex wouldn't and wants to start a business...

OMG I can't spell today

Depends on what kind of deer. Florida/Texas big dog deer, or deer from the southern Rockies?

It would just ruin the meat anyway.... hahaha

L to R: .338 LM, .308 win, 6.5 CM. The 338LM compared to .308 is about the difference between .308 and .223. Why? Because we can! Still wish I had a 50 BMG...

Ummm, that's why he's such a Nancy boy... Yikes!

Hahahaha

The rifle is F'ing huge too

Anyone making their own jacketed bullets? I've seen a place that has a kit to use spent .22LR casings to form a .224 bullet ~55gr; but that's about the only resource I've seen for doing that.

Pricy though...
