free slack is quite restrictive and "free" only as in you are the product

as is in discord too

for work enviroments its darn nice to have (if implemented wisely that is what is really rare)

yeah i work for a startup and we use slack for damn near everything

our legal guys fully endorse it and they know their shit

like if our slack was leaked we would just bleed corporate secrets

tho having that much trust to non-controlled binary blob is quite of ridiculous

no matter what law says once it gets leaked there is no payments back for "oops well nothing is100% proof"

but yeah .. you gotta trust something for messaging

and its easier to IT to blame others if something gets leaked via slack than if it gets out by self-hosted stuff
