I might have jumped into the China conversation late but remember these few points when talking about China.
China paid the NBA 500 million dollars to push and promote "BLM" which in return persudes a lot of people's way of thinking.
Also don't forget they let a virus escape from a lab (COVID-19) That has affected the entire globe and cause many deaths and caused countries to go into debt. And what happened to them? Nothing. No country can stand or would stand upto them. China would just cut off all the items you buy and now you don't have a stove, microwave, laptop, washer, dryer etc. 90% of what you own is from or made in China.
So the reality is... If China interfered with the election by any means, no one will do anything about it.
There is a huge difference between what the average person donates vs. the really rich person who you're talking about.
China owns the world.
@Maw w.r.t FoS though it doesn't matter; you cannot restrict the idea of Super PACs without restricting people spending money on influencing people
CNN is a super pac
Quite possibly.
do you really think CNN should be stopped from being the press?
Nope.
this literally would make Franklin's head explode
yea exactly
which is my point
if you have a newspaper that is very successful and influential, and is a superpac, there is nothing you can do about it, unless you infringe of FoS and FoP
March 25th the DOW jones stock market hits lows we haven't seen in 15-20 years. Guess who was the biggest investor buying all US stock and commodities... China. They also hold 4 trillion of the USA debt.
@Pantsdonkey, you just advanced to level 2!
I don't consider CNN direct funding for a campaign though, far more indirect.
but the vast majority of the money is indirect like this
that is what a Super PAC is
indirect funding
"dont contol the election. Control the words."
Take care everyone. Well try and be back on later
Sheesh... I go to sleep for a few hours and it's like trying to read War and Peace on a teleprompter to catch back up. I gave up and skipped to the end.
Also: I said this is a place to begin, I wasn't talking about indirect sources of influence.
Second: I never said this was the solution, I said it was the start.
I'm pretty sure there are limits on giving directly to campaigns
but i dunno the details
Way higher than the American average donation is.
Which is my point
It's around 2k last I checked, could be wrong.
Average donation is 40-100 IIRC
2k is nothing heh
@realz, you just advanced to level 11!
there aren't that many corporations
Didn't you just talk about thousands of shareholders though?
I did, but I am not sure what you are saying now
(connect the dots for me?)
I think there is a strong class divide in the country at the moment like many people do. I think that the range of donations is so large that the upper classes have an inordinate amount of control over who gets more money.

I find it interesting how both sides make the same complaints about the other. Liberals complain about the one-sidedness of the conservative media sources in the RWEC while pointing to the fair and truthful reporting of their chosen media sources. And Conservatives fervently believe the opposite. Both can't be objectively true. Each side subjectively believe their viewpoint is superior. I assert that neither are true or at least completely true.
@TaLoN132, you just advanced to level 15!
Grats!
