It's beautiful... Imagine a place where the weather is ideal. People get along pretty well, over all. Think of anything you might want to do and you are minutes to hours away from doing it. We have our issues, but they are the kind of problems that the rest of the world would be like shaking their heads at us.

Are you familiar with the reproducibility crisis? Even scientists have a hard time determining truth using the scientific method in complex environments. I used to be more a conspircay theorist until I worked for the Federal government and realized ineptitude could explain much more than conspiracy. This holds true for the large organizatin's I've worked with.

@realz When did it become "journalism" to report on the work of other journalists? You know what I mean? I hate articles and the only facts are quotes from another article... I digress.

I am not a conspiracy theorist in general, I am an extreme skeptic most of the time. (I know you didn't say I was, I just want to let you know where I am coming from).

There are a number of varied reasons for it and it depends on the unique case. From my experience, conspiracy is a real thing and it happens. It is just much rarer than most people think it is. Ineptitude is not and should be the first place people look for explanations.

But I don't claim the media is conspiring or secretively doing things. I claim that they choose what to cover and how to cover it based on their biases, and behind the scenes they are much more explicit than they are willing to show you publicly (on an individual basis; that is to say, journalists claim independence because they are more hirable if they are seen as independent, but many of them know that this this is just a facade and they aren't independent even if they say they are)

I would agree with you on that point with modern media, specifically over the last 8-12 years. I don't know if that has been as widespread as it is now. There seemed to be a greater diversity in views in MSM historically speaking.

I would imagine it is close to the ratio of democrats to republicans in sociology. It is upward of 10/1 in that field.
