Obama did something called "catch and release"... The idea was to catch them and give them a bond and a court date so they didnt have to house them. They also received and option to return to their homeland voluntarily, but most claim assylum so they got a court date and were told to come back the overwhelming majority did

Trumps first order of business as potus was use a bunch of federal funds without Congress to build cages to fill with his zero tolerence policy. So no Obama didnt build the cages.

So lets assume for a moment that Obama built the cages. Its not the cages that were the problem. THey were tempoary over flow.

The problem was how Trump used the cages.

At least 7 children died in those cages under Trump. No child died in the 8 years under Obama. In fact you have to go back to the First G W Bush term to find a child death in ICE/Border Patrol Custody
