They have to get Pelosi? If Biden is arrested, Pelosi is president

2020-12-12 06:15:49 UTC

Okay if you say so buddy...

2020-12-12 06:16:05 UTC

We will have battery backups @busillis we will come up with contingencies in 100s of years of our technological development

2020-12-12 06:16:08 UTC

grids go down all the time like in Japan, the backup generators to circulate water failed and ruined the coast for a generation

2020-12-12 06:16:38 UTC

Oh, god no! I take it back!

2020-12-12 06:17:00 UTC

That’s in my professional area of expertise. EMP is NOT a realistic threat to our nuclear power reactors.

2020-12-12 06:17:49 UTC

Completely off the grid?

2020-12-12 06:18:03 UTC

an emp could potentially fry backup power thats absolutely needed for nuclear reactors, just flooding not even major failure cause the Japan meltdowns as i said

2020-12-12 06:19:25 UTC

As long as there’s not physical damage to the backup generators from say flooding. In an EMP event, is unlikely the power grid would be out an extended period of time.

2020-12-12 06:19:25 UTC

@kennyb, you just advanced to level 3!

2020-12-12 06:20:00 UTC

Unsure if Pelosi is involved. Nothing would surprise me anymore though

2020-12-12 06:20:53 UTC

That is incorrect. Generators are inherently EMP resistant

It's all good the sun never does anything... Only people..

2020-12-12 06:23:02 UTC

some can withstand it, some have spare transistors and alternators and fuses and wiring on hand, good luck as i said look at japan, u cant say u know it hasnt happened

2020-12-12 06:23:06 UTC

How can she be so un aware @meglide

2020-12-12 06:24:03 UTC

Japan they have tsunamis, earthquakes, and on a coast, well "prepared" they thought for flooding, its a gamble

2020-12-12 06:24:05 UTC

Generators are inherently EMP resistant.

2020-12-12 06:24:07 UTC

The nuclear plants aren't hit with the CME... Residual breakdown of all the systems that rely on electricity.

2020-12-12 06:24:17 UTC

How do you pump fuel through pipelines with no electricity?

2020-12-12 06:24:37 UTC

yeah u said that b4 i heard, they are not fail proof

2020-12-12 06:24:42 UTC

With no electrical supply chain start to break down.

2020-12-12 06:25:33 UTC

There is no evidence through testing that backup generators would fail in an EMP event.

2020-12-12 06:26:34 UTC

ive seen them do emp testing on components in newport news for big ships, stuff can fry, they try ti mitigate it yes, just like for flooding

2020-12-12 06:27:02 UTC

By the department of defense study Pittsburgh CME hit the earth now 80 to 90 % of people in the us would be dead in a month.

2020-12-12 06:27:25 UTC

The backup generators are not air gapped they could likely be fried...

2020-12-12 06:27:26 UTC

Generators are inherently EMP resistant. There are other electronics that are much less resistant

2020-12-12 06:27:39 UTC

its not just the components its the entire infrastructure and ability to keep it online with fuel or power etc etc, its an unknown gamble

2020-12-12 06:27:39 UTC

@Ghostdog, you just advanced to level 8!

2020-12-12 06:28:48 UTC

You probably won’t lose the grid in an EMP event.

2020-12-12 06:29:25 UTC

probably is a funny word if u live next to a nuclear reactor

2020-12-12 06:30:41 UTC

@Ghostdog no its pretty good, your stuff glows in the dark

2020-12-12 06:30:47 UTC

It is extremely unlikely you would lose the power grid for a period of time long enough to lose cooling in a nuclear power plant.

2020-12-12 06:32:08 UTC

And even if you did hypothetically, the generators are inherently resistant so you’re perfectly safe.

2020-12-12 06:33:09 UTC

yeah i get ur point, i agree, its still gamble with lives, or generations of lives, or a few km of no mans land like what happened in Japan

2020-12-12 06:33:48 UTC

forget emp what if a meteor hits a nuke plant, bye bye

2020-12-12 06:33:56 UTC

We either figure it out or we are f'd. 40 years ago the first "mobile" phones were the size of large suitcases. Today, we hold immense processing power in our hands. Solar technology was delayed be decades, but it is fast catching up. We'll get there. I just hope it's in time. One thing I'm sure of, CA will lead the way.

2020-12-12 06:34:05 UTC

thats just 1 minor example of 100
