Generators are inherently EMP resistant.
The nuclear plants aren't hit with the CME... Residual breakdown of all the systems that rely on electricity.
How do you pump fuel through pipelines with no electricity?
yeah u said that b4 i heard, they are not fail proof
With no electrical supply chain start to break down.
There is no evidence through testing that backup generators would fail in an EMP event.
ive seen them do emp testing on components in newport news for big ships, stuff can fry, they try ti mitigate it yes, just like for flooding
By the department of defense study Pittsburgh CME hit the earth now 80 to 90 % of people in the us would be dead in a month.
The backup generators are not air gapped they could likely be fried...
Generators are inherently EMP resistant. There are other electronics that are much less resistant
its not just the components its the entire infrastructure and ability to keep it online with fuel or power etc etc, its an unknown gamble
@Ghostdog, you just advanced to level 8!
You probably won’t lose the grid in an EMP event.
probably is a funny word if u live next to a nuclear reactor
It is extremely unlikely you would lose the power grid for a period of time long enough to lose cooling in a nuclear power plant.
And even if you did hypothetically, the generators are inherently resistant so you’re perfectly safe.
yeah i get ur point, i agree, its still gamble with lives, or generations of lives, or a few km of no mans land like what happened in Japan
forget emp what if a meteor hits a nuke plant, bye bye
We either figure it out or we are f'd. 40 years ago the first "mobile" phones were the size of large suitcases. Today, we hold immense processing power in our hands. Solar technology was delayed be decades, but it is fast catching up. We'll get there. I just hope it's in time. One thing I'm sure of, CA will lead the way.
thats just 1 minor example of 100
GA Supreme Court DJT vs GA

If a meteor hits a nuclear power plant, we probably have bigger issue than the radioactive material being dispersed.
yeah it will be just another huge problem added
More like a minor problem onto a much, much larger one.
@kennyb, you just advanced to level 4!
Looking forward to tuesdays epp (im in Australia) :)
@Killerzombie85, you just advanced to level 1!
Human civilization will either be able to create a workable fusion reactor with viable amounts of energy output versus input or the sun will Nova (Recurrent Nova) before this happens and will be back in the Stone age, if we survive at all.
the sun will kill us eventually if nothing else does, unless we make it to another solar system
Making it to another solar system is doubtful, but humans have survived.
The oldest Homo sapien remains are 300,000 years old
Musk can just launch ppl in waves in many directions and hopefully make it somewhere lol
Human sure have been productive over the last 150 years? What gives?
soon maybe we can create our own big bang and reboot lol
