I actually hate my colleagues for the role they play in this.
Quitting smoking wasn't the intense trial I thought it would be. Basically said fuggit after 25 years. Can climb stairs now and everything. Pretty sweet.
It's a different kind of anxiety the kind I have no control over.
Not giving a shit helps. For me anyway.
You always have control over it, mine is based in logic in a way, but it's influenced by perception.

I would ask around tho... there are some Psychiatrists that prescribe SSRIs like they are candy. But there can be some very serious implications especially when you are first starting them or when you stop taking them. Ideally, you need a family member to be able to watch your behavior daily when you start on those
I don't like drugs, I try to avoid them when possible.
Especially chronic medication.

@Maw modern psychiatrists break out something called Psychometrics, and hook off boxes.
They then calculate what is wrong with you, and based on that the prescribe either therapy or drugs.
Dont tell them of any sucidal plans, and deny all special abilities and messages for you from the TV, as well as any voices, and you should be able to walk out of there alone.

Not to be too nosy or opinionated here but lots of psychiatrists see their role as medicating. If you havent already I would suggest getting in to see a therapist. My late partner use to complain about that all the time. He would say that it is as if the psychiatrists think that you have been in therapy and it was not helping or you are there because you need meds in addition to therapy. So just kinda watch out for that
