Yep.

2020-12-20 19:42:44 UTC

We disagree.

2020-12-20 19:43:13 UTC

Let me know how economic regulation equals redistribution and maybe we'll agree.

2020-12-20 19:44:33 UTC

corruption occurs because decisions get delegated

2020-12-20 19:44:56 UTC

Please define what you are calling Economic Regulations?

2020-12-20 19:46:29 UTC

Regulations on tax deductibles, regulations on corporations buying out competition, regulations on horizontal and vertical monopolies, regulations on corporate money in politics, regulations on numerous other things which primarily relate to ethics issues.

2020-12-20 19:47:11 UTC

we already have thousands of these

2020-12-20 19:47:25 UTC

Certainly isn't working at all now is it:?

2020-12-20 19:48:00 UTC

@Phil thats because they are selectively applied and deliberately left ambiguous

2020-12-20 19:48:35 UTC

Sounds like it's not good regulation then.

2020-12-20 19:49:20 UTC

@Maw depends though on what you mean by not working. you are among the richest people that ever lived and are among the top 10% richest people on the planet today

2020-12-20 19:50:28 UTC

And? Do we really want corporations to be able to hire illegal immigrants under the table and pay them below minimum wage? I don't understand the argument of 'oh, well, we're still better off than X'.

2020-12-20 19:51:06 UTC

@Maw if i give everyone $10 is everyone richer?

2020-12-20 19:51:22 UTC

Why are you bringing up wealth redistribution?

2020-12-20 19:52:02 UTC

@Maw if the minimum wage goes up, people have more money, they demand more goods and services, sellers see rise in demand and raise their price.

2020-12-20 19:52:20 UTC

I'm talking about an ethical problem, not minimum wage.

2020-12-20 19:52:55 UTC

We are number three in the world on creating individual wealth per capita.

2020-12-20 19:53:02 UTC

Cool.

2020-12-20 19:54:53 UTC

@Maw somebody has to come last in society. is that ethical? its a matter of fact. peoples talents and skills are not distributed uniformly

2020-12-20 19:55:12 UTC

Again not talking about wealth redistribution, stop thinking I am.

2020-12-20 19:58:35 UTC

@Maw to prevent corruption, have fewer politicians and pay them more (obscenely more)

2020-12-20 19:58:47 UTC

What?

2020-12-20 19:58:55 UTC

@Maw yes

2020-12-20 19:59:17 UTC

I can't even.

2020-12-20 19:59:29 UTC

@Zuluzeit Help me here. I need to do my hair.

2020-12-20 19:59:49 UTC

Actually the cost of goods increase due to cost of production. It has very little to do with supply and demand?

2020-12-20 20:00:09 UTC

you have to be prepared to have much fewer people making decisions. this makes the system more accountable. so its very clear who is corrupt

2020-12-20 20:00:49 UTC

you have to pay them obscene amounts of money. money is why people take bribes and become corrupted. if there is no financial reward there is little incentive

2020-12-20 20:01:32 UTC

As I said, this isn't about minimum wage, it's about businesses doing unethical things which influences the job market, and therefore the supply of jobs (and therefore the job's average wage). It has nothing to do with the minimum wage, it has to do with businesses taking advantage of illegal immigrants, much the same way as businesses go out of America to create sweatshops.

2020-12-20 20:01:35 UTC

the cost of goods would affect both supply and demand

2020-12-20 20:01:55 UTC

Stop thinking it's about wealth redistribution, for the love of God.

2020-12-20 20:02:01 UTC

Now I'm going to do my hair brb

2020-12-20 20:02:50 UTC

I know. I didn't Tag you I'm my comment.

2020-12-20 20:03:04 UTC

i dont get it either, you are surprised that people take advantage of lower cost labor?

2020-12-20 20:03:38 UTC

ask apple, they are willing to go to court to protect their right to exploit low cost labor

2020-12-20 20:05:53 UTC

I believe if we want to address the use of using illegal Employees we should go after the Employers not the Employees.

2020-12-20 20:06:33 UTC

or stop buying things from companies that engage in practices you dont approve of, vote with your wallet

2020-12-20 20:09:44 UTC

Unfortunately as a General Rule People are selfish and care about self interests. The Cheapest Price!

2020-12-20 20:14:19 UTC

people will buy shoes made from hide of the rural canadian, if they think that gets them laid.

2020-12-20 20:15:41 UTC

That's kinda the point of economic regulation, yes.

2020-12-20 20:16:18 UTC

Unfortunately this is why I'm called a market-skeptic!
