Cruz trying to manufacture a scene

I watched this as it was happening and it was so infuriating to me. They based their analysis on a false assumption and it is so detrimental to have false testimony presented without having the ability to question them directly.

They assumed that the data that was collected by Edison Research NEP and sent to the NYT (via JSON files) was an accurate representation of votes being tabulated in real time. They did not factor in how the data was collected, the methodology for determining how/when data is sent, the inherent inaccuracies in how the data is collected, and the process/method that inaccuracies are corrected during the exchange of data. Any good analyst makes sure that the data that they are starting is sound and that the assumptions with regard to data consistency are valid. These individuals do not appear to have made an attempt to do this at all.

They also made no attempt to normalize the data for current circumstances. They used data trends for mail in ballots from past elections as proof that there was fraud in this election without factoring things like the pandemic and Trump telling his supporters to not vote by mail. For their conclusions to be valid, they could compare it to in-person totals in GA; in-person/mail-in totals in states like FL/TX where Trump won and mail-in ballots were counted first; and states like NC where Trump won.

They appear to have started with a conclusion and tried to prove that the data supported it. Others have tried to make similar assertions based on the data feeds from election night and they have not stood up well against contradictory expert testimony. As a result, this analysis almost certainly would not stand up to scrutiny.

For a better understanding of how the data are collected, check out this: http://www.edisonresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Web-Entry-Team-Handout-2020.pdf

Cognitive bias!

2021-01-03 19:35:43 UTC

Implant result prior to election -> Let bias take its course if results are questioned.

I used to respect Cruz... that is no longer the case. He's betting his political future on this and it is not likely going to work out well for him. He thinks that making a fake attempt at helping Trump will endear him to Trump supporters when he runs in 2024. It will not and it will galvanize non-Trump supporters against him.

The good news is that he is probably eyeing a 2024 Presidential run which will mean he will not be as focused on his senate reelection campaign. Something to look forward to in 2024... Cruz's failing presidential run and his losing his Senate seat.

2021-01-03 19:44:55 UTC

Used to respect him too.

2021-01-03 19:45:05 UTC

This is what you get when you try to play both sides.

2021-01-03 19:45:15 UTC

When it's such a divisive idea.

2021-01-03 19:45:41 UTC

I'm confused

2021-01-03 19:46:32 UTC

Can we please leave the king of popoutof this

2021-01-03 19:46:57 UTC

I can forgive the fervent Trump supporter that wanted to make sure that fraud did not happen who consequently signed affidavits about things that they questioned during the election. They are not experts and their motivations are generally sincere. People like these "experts" that should know better who prostitute themselves for money, 15 minutes of "fame", or free advertising are just despicable.

2021-01-03 19:48:07 UTC

It's so sweet that you care so much for the feet of Biden voters. Such empathy is rare.

2021-01-03 19:48:13 UTC

And people still wonder why others say Trump is divisive. This is the epitome of his divisiveness.

2021-01-03 19:48:27 UTC

Everyone that doesn't fall in line gets shoved under the Trump bus.

2021-01-03 19:50:03 UTC

AUDIO!

2021-01-03 19:52:20 UTC

I just want to find 11,870 votes lol

2021-01-03 19:55:32 UTC

"That's fake news!

Anything that Trump does is pure. He wasn't wanting anyone to do anything unethical.

He just wanted them to admit their bias against him and stop rigging the election for Biden. It was just an appeal to their better nature..."

Just preempting all of the excuses that Trump supporters will use. Feel free to add to the list.

2021-01-03 19:56:49 UTC

I agree with you 100%. I love pushing fake news...

2021-01-03 19:57:15 UTC

It will be interesting to see what the "excuses" are this time.

2021-01-03 19:57:32 UTC

@SANCTIONED no ad hominem....

2021-01-03 19:57:42 UTC

Damn it

2021-01-03 19:58:06 UTC

"That's a deep fake by the Deep State"

"It was taken out of context"

2021-01-03 19:59:22 UTC

Don't have a Washington Post account, so I will have to wait for other news outlets to report on the Post story to get the details.

2021-01-03 19:59:50 UTC

I have a solution for you, unless you wanted to post it here.
