No one writes glorious tales of how a king saved his people by kneeling to some other king.
I know one close one.

On the border between Saxony and Bohemia there lies a small town called Pirna.
Documented is not the same as glorified, mind you.
Both kings wanted it.
But both kings agreed that the sons were not to die.
They were both coming of age, and decided on a duel to the death over the small town.
After a short period of time the two elderly men in full armor were highly cyanotic.
They needed to rest for a while, and positioned their shields against a pear tree.
Sat down.
And talked.
Reluctant to reengage in the stale-mate, they agreed that they would take turns ruling Pirna.
One year each.
And to this day, the city shield of Pirna consists of the shields of Saxony and Bohemia rested against a pear-tree.
As an American, I reject the idea of applauding the wisdom of compromise.

I got so good at those as a kid I could just adjust my eyes by looking through the image to see the pattern

what options do we have, if literally every check and balance has been corrupted and tens of millions of us americans have good reason to assume the election was not legitimate ?
