Kyle was using specialty SD ammunition, it was rapid-fragmentation. Likely special JSP or special JHP.

I once had a man delivered to my care with BP 50/0.

His entire volum of blood was in his abdomen under pressure.

So I don't expect tumbling was an issue.

Rather the rapid expansion was.

Also doc is correct, have you shot a gun before? It's not easy to tell where you're hitting.

Absolutely! You can have years and years of training. And be caught off guard, and make a mistake or an adjustment you didn't have time to account for.
And adrenaline is another key issue many non experienced shooters don't take into consideration
