Is it okay to plug a hard drive in while the PC is running?
Not unplug one in use, just add another.
Do you have anything sensitive open because some sata controllers really don't like hotplug
Nah. Don't want to lose anything on the drive I'm installing, but I only have a fresh Win10 up now.
I had two drives with different Win10 installs, but Windows is shit and booting into one with both plugged in likes to fuck up the other
Wanna plug the other drive in while one is open for both installs so I can make sure I don't even let it have a drive letter, and hopefully keep things from getting fucky
Yes, he is
@timsandtoms if you have enabled hotswap in the bios
and you don't fuck it up
yeah
if you didn't enable hotswap, it's not going to do anything
also did you have any harddrive with a windows install connected when you installed windows on the other drive
because if so, you won't be able to boot from the new drive alone since it lacks the bootloader
@kontroll I bet you're the type to clutter a screen with 10 different terminal sessions
Or are using i3/any other wm
What's wrong with i3?
I'm just too lazy to configure it to have similair functionality that I currently have in Budgie
It's best suited for Laptop/server maintenance use
If you're just hanging out on a desktop with a proper mouse, it quickly becomes unironically unintuitive
At least imo
Yeah, I liked the idea of mainly using keyboard with i3, but then again I do have a mouse that I would also like to use and that's where my issues with it started appearing
Like for example accidentally moving mouse cursor switched the active object, so I once pushed to repo something with "fuck" written in the code
Hello fellow coders
T. Year 1 student
If only there was best of both worlds
That would be?
Best of both worlds would probably be imho something like a full on blown DE mixed with WM mode
But then there's bloat
Best is two machines tbh
What bloat?
A pi with tmux for all your maintenance needs
A desktop for everything else
Qt/gtk/bars/standard applications all that jazz that /g/ hates
That bloat
fuck qt
Jpn post you cute
