Cisco will actually list the commands out for you

so I couldn't concentrate enough in high school

and give you their syntax

and no other devices are going to give you on average

you have to grasp the high level concepts of what you're actually trying to do first; then IOS is literally there to help you get it done. the damn things were built with config management baked in

multiple years of uptime

cisco stuff is mostly made in Hong Kong right

but that's why certs matter for network engineering and not so much for unix admin

everyone and their mom has a CCNA. it's a neccessary and a given. You probably want a leg up on other's by focusing on a particular industry and learning the reqs for it, e.g., if you want to do finance and ecom you should learn what is needed for PCI compliant networking gear. also what part of networking do you want to focus on

getting a job fast actually is counter to getting a cert

certs are more for cementing your creds and to make employers comfy with your skill level for any possible bounceback period from a layoff

CCNA's have a 1.5% unemployment rate in my state
