i personally feel like IOS is nice though
a shame it's not a standard thing
the Juniper and Unixfags
have been saying that forever
cisco networking should be deprecated it's painful af to use
>painful to use
lel
only for the uninitiated
reee I dropped out because mental illness and apathy
only did pc software and hardware
the second you use any other managed switch you'll see how superior cisco IOS is
what part got ya?
IOS is all pretty easy
t. CCENT
yea
couldn't be bothered with command line autism, loonix command line makes sense, as does windows, but cisco feels painfully autistic
IOS is incredibly straightforward
or maybe I just wanted to die
Cisco will actually list the commands out for you
and give you their syntax
and no other devices are going to give you on average
you have to grasp the high level concepts of what you're actually trying to do first; then IOS is literally there to help you get it done. the damn things were built with config management baked in
multiple years of uptime
cisco stuff is mostly made in Hong Kong right
like former crown colony HKU engineering
Hong Kong
all very solid
and now somewhere in Eastern Europe
it feels outdated and like some high school autist could just make a simple gui wrapper to make it less painful
it's funny
or maybe that was my mental illness making me incapable of basic tasks
Verizon actually does web graphical wrappers on cisco stuff
for their MPLS clients
it. sucks. ass.
you can't believe how horrible it is
where I agree with you re: cisco pain is how things can go horribly wrong if you don't know wtf ur doing
but that's why certs matter for network engineering and not so much for unix admin
a cisco config is a sharp blade and when you write a command you best know wtf ur doing
what would you recommend if I wanted to get a network job fast, what certs are good?
