2019-01-18 21:15:06 UTC

Let's see if you pay attention

2019-01-18 21:15:50 UTC

how many hours of sleep do you get @Deleted User ?

2019-01-18 21:20:48 UTC

Well I had started a new routine for the year, aiming for 8 hour sleep from 9pm till 5am. I I only use to get 4 hours, from 2am till 6am, and weekends till 8am amounting to 6 hours. However since I started this routine, for the life of me, I can't help but sleep every second night now lol, I can't sleep, so I'm up all night and day, and then the next night after 9 I'm out and up at 5 again. So it's half working lol. Tonight will likely be an entire night again because I'm not tired... Clearly 🙄

I'm thinking of modifying my routine to account for this now, and then from next week, I'll use the extra 8 hours to be productive in some capacity.

How about yourself?

2019-01-18 21:21:39 UTC

lately around 5 hours

2019-01-18 21:23:05 UTC

I always try for like 7 - 8 hours, but these days I struggle.

2019-01-18 21:24:15 UTC

and its not like i just sit and work all day - I'm extremely active. Nothing seems to wear me out

2019-01-18 21:24:57 UTC

Yeah I know the feeling lol, been trying it for a week. But honestly the results so far ain't bad at all, even though I'm skipping sleep, it's actually not affecting me negatively.

That said, the greatest minds in history only got like 2-4 hours sleep, adding a short nap or two through the day.

I think partly the reason why I manage this is due to my intermittent fasting. I first discovered this when I was doing water fasting, when you kick into ketosis and your body runs on fat. Because fat contains double the amount of energy than carbs per gram, you get a major boost in energy. Also carbs tend to be more of a short explosive energy, ideal for athletic activities like sport, where as fat tends to be a longer consistent release of energy for endurance. You don't crash on it, which makes sense if you consider that ketosis is intended to be a survival mode. But it's great none the less, I'm not really a sporty type of person, so one meal a day, high fat diet really allows me to endure long hours, and I can't fail to emphasise that the brain, which takes up 25‰ of your energy budget, actually runs alot more efficient on ketones from fat than the glucose from carbs.

2019-01-18 21:33:29 UTC

I'm totally on-board with keto

2019-01-18 21:33:59 UTC

I'm very interested to try out intermittent fasting

2019-01-18 21:35:02 UTC

the only gripe I have with low carb diets is that I miss beer

2019-01-18 21:36:53 UTC

The only problem with keto is high protein and fat makes your blood acidic, which is not all that good, it negatively influences your internal systems, like your endocrine, nervous system etc. This what the vegans keep yapping on about, alkaline blood is healthier... But I found an alternative way to alter the blood pH and make it more alkaline.

2019-01-18 21:41:56 UTC

oh yeh? What's the alternative?

2019-01-18 21:42:48 UTC

Oxygen lol, saturate your blood with oxygen, and that does the trick. It legit works.

2019-01-18 21:43:35 UTC

sorry if this is a stupid question - but, how?

2019-01-18 21:45:02 UTC

Lol hold on... Let me get it for you.

2019-01-18 21:52:15 UTC

Should keep you busy for a while lol

2019-01-18 21:55:18 UTC

thanks! I'm gonna try this 😃

2019-01-18 22:07:24 UTC

Yeah do it, honestly a good high you get from it as well lol... Takes about 15min per session, and what I enjoy about it is another 5 min of steady deep breathing through the nose. You really zone in then, and your surrounding environment becomes quiet regardless of whatever distractions might be present, ideal for a few minutes of mediation. Do this between every transition of my routine, and then repeat my routine to myself to strengthen my memory and focus. Should do you alot of good, but you really have to just do it.
