@Jacob I think the mistake you're making is thinking that you would let people in who have no strong political preferences, but will flip flop to the party that is the most relevant at the time. The point of the psych analysis is to filter out people who just repeat talking points, and to bring in people who have a strong genetic tendency for hyper Nationalist thought

@John O - That's actually a pretty interesting argument. I'm not sure how practical that would be. You would essentially be restricting yourself to only letting in people who are hyper political. For guys like us who are deeply involved in this it's often easy to forget just how little the average person cares about politics. Even when it comes to us, I imagine most people here don't actually care that much about most issues.

I think ultimately a society needs people who are interested in different subjects. I don't think everyone *should* make politics their hobby.

I think politics shouldn’t be everyone’s hobby but they should be politically engaged

In a monocultural republic like the one we used to have, it’s the only way to have a functional republic is if most people are politically engaged

I have the same feeling, but I want that in my lifetime. I know it might not happen, but I want to get to the point where I don't have to think about politics.

I just want to get to the point where I’m comfortable knowing we can express our views in public

Because once we can do that, we’ve already won
