Like mule deer hop
Vs white tails run
I blame a walking bear
@wolfwood Many quadrepeds step in their own tracks
I’d imagine the two would look different so it may be the same with other little critters
When animals walk through snow sometimes they just get stuck in the pattern of the first two feet so they don’t have to break more trail
Following the trail there weren't any instances of the pattern breaking, like missteps
It was a consistent 1,2,1,2
Did you take a picture
If ur on a reservation it could be a 3 legged dog
Spooky
@Jordan - MD scroll up a bit
watch a cat walk in deep snow sometime
That was I was thinking a cat
Yeah that's what I thought of too, a cat taking really dainty steps
@wolfwood so the steps were small?
Still a freaky result looking like a baby walked thru my yard
isnt MT montana? I would assume its a deer
They almost look human sized
@wolfwood photos?
Each footstep was about 3" front to back
above pic is bobcat
Oh I see you posted below.
Ian did you scroll up a bit past the gnome discussion?
Yeah I got it now ty
Looks like what dover tom posted...
Yeah
Bit of a relief no doubt.
This is the edge of what I'd call suburbia, haven't been here long, unsurprising some wildlife would stroll thru. But I expected different patterns.
(Going right past my bedroom window while I sleep)
😃
Maybe I should keep my old laptop and set up a motion capture again.
Put a trail cam out there, you’d probably get some interesting stuff on it. The pic you posted showed a depression in the show that looks like a game trail
Trail cams are so cheap these days
So remember that feet / legs / paws enter/exit snow at angles.
At least compared to. What they used to. Cost.
Your"print" is print plus the leg moving around
Good trackers back in the day could tell the difference between whites and Indians based on the heel strike and out-toeing in the print
I'll have to remember to check out some trail cams
