The refractive rate of air is much lower, I'd need some expensive stuff to see that. So I'll leave you with that question for now.

The scientific method is hypothesis driven, you have a hypothesis: Light curves down in air. You have a null hypothesis of Light curves up in air.
The null hypothesis is true, so the main hypothesis (which has no proof) is not.
So the science shows light curves up in air with zero evidence to say otherwise.
