Astrophysics is hella interesting
Takes a lot of work but super interesting
Also hey while I’m here I’ve always wondered something about flat earthers but never had the chance to ask
WHAT IF ... WHAT IF .... walter bislins is a flat earther that doesnt wanna telll any one
But I'm not talking about Walter bislins
Even if earth is flat or round or whatever else you wanna believe, why does it matter?
so you dont get lost in space
Like we are all very obviously alive here and not directly affected by the shape of the planet we live on
Now who in 2019 aside from top level well trained professionals will be going to space
waste your life thinking about the stars and leaving the planet and ther is no god and other stupid crap that never helps you do the right thing
I’m just legitimately curious about why it matters to you and me
Common folks like us
?_? i just told yoiu
do i have to RIGHT a essay that you wont read
Write*
I mean no other animal on the planet thinks about much of anything complex much less the shape of the planet
And they get on just fine
What does the shape of the planet have to do with “doing the right thing” though
I’m not trying to pester you, I’m just really curious
And yes I do want to see the essay. It'll be pretty interesting. Please define a proper thesis and restate it in the concluding paragraph.
Wait really?
Awesome. Send me a DM of it when you're done
I understand that general beliefs are fundamental parts that make up morals and all that but what does the shape of the planet have to do with that
The only time it ever even comes to mind is if I have some spare time and am just thinking about random stuff for the hell of it
I just asked a question about applying to NASA tho :c
it has never factored into any part of my morals or major decision making
I could attack the flat earth model and the logic of it all but why do that when the concept of arguing over it doesn’t really add up in the first place
I know humans are competitive creatures by nature and will look for conflict where it may not even exist, but I feel like surely there could be a more fulfilling or logical conflict than arguing over the shape of the planet
I guess as humans we are curious beings and with that we need to excercise thoughts that may pop in our heads.
The cost of being intelligent is to become curious. Being intelligent separates us from humans and animals.
Well then let’s argue over the shape of the planet when space travel is widely available
I know curiosity and deep thought are grand concepts that have launched humanity eons ahead of other species
The thing is, space travel is not commercialized yet. So I guess debates like these will sprout up. Although the majority consensus believes the earth is round, there's nothing wrong with entertaining the thought of a flat earth model without accepting it and vice versa.
Absolutely
I'm just here to get a biased answer to a profession im interested in.
I know in the scheme of things I’ll always be hit with labels like atheist and “globe earther” I guess but those labels leave me misinterpreted by the vast majority
>Space travel is widely available
lol your average joe can't go to space
Because the truth is that I don’t want to blatantly attack any viewpoint
I’m honestly open to anything
I simply favor whichever has been further proven from my perspective
