@Deleted User or maybe you will have a bias and would be clouded due to emotional pain

2020-08-19 23:50:22 UTC

which is why detectived who have had thier daughter raped cannot serve on a rape task force

@Deleted UserI am genuinely sorry that any member of your family is experiencing suffering, but you are actively contributing to the probability that more and more children will suffer and die from entirely preventable diseases by engaging in this loathsome nonsense and propping up insane conspiracies and pseudoscientific codswallop that has been debunked time and time again.

So, I think Haidt's work on moral foundations theory in relation to personality psychology is the path toward understanding morality outside of the subjective domain and works better than just claiming "my moral foundation is x"

So @T2the2ndpowr Sugested I present this idea here. Not my original idea, but still. The coencept of Statis and money to be a religion. That is from the perspective that a religion can be summed up aprpox. to be the belief in a power or entity that may or may not exist that ahve powers humens do not. Thus the state si a religion as in we give it power by believing it to have saied power we do not a. And worship it via taking part in elections and watchin what it does on the screens (TV).

2020-08-24 17:02:21 UTC

Likewise Money can be viewed as a religion as it only have value and power over us from our belief in it having value, in how it works today. (not have it started, being based in gold that have a value).

2020-08-24 17:02:22 UTC

money's already a religion

2020-08-24 18:57:44 UTC

What would a religion that literally worships money be called

2020-08-24 18:58:00 UTC

democracy

2020-08-24 18:59:23 UTC

I would call in capitalism personally if I were to give it a name

2020-08-24 19:00:10 UTC

It’s not worshipped though. Valued yeah. But not worshipped. I’m a capitalist and I don’t find money worth worshipping. I’d imagine I’m not alone

2020-08-24 19:00:45 UTC

@Delta You're not alone

2020-08-24 19:00:57 UTC

If money beacomes everyday part of your life

2020-08-24 19:01:06 UTC

than you worship money

2020-08-24 19:01:09 UTC

no doubt

2020-08-24 19:01:42 UTC

you get stressed beacuse of it

2020-08-24 19:01:43 UTC

you dont litterally worship it, but effectily you do when all you do is chasing the proffits

2020-08-24 19:02:08 UTC

@Delta The bible says whoever you obey is who you worship

2020-08-24 19:02:17 UTC

when proffiting moneterily with your every action becomes a focuys, it in effect becomes the same

2020-08-24 19:02:46 UTC

Yeah but people do things against theyreeconomic interest all the time.

2020-08-24 19:03:23 UTC

people do things against religions interest all the time

2020-08-24 19:03:36 UTC

you dont worship it right way

2020-08-24 19:03:40 UTC

So pick one.

2020-08-24 19:03:53 UTC

I pick family

2020-08-24 19:03:58 UTC

and God

2020-08-24 19:04:14 UTC

I mean it's pretty sad that a lot of people don't do something like have children because the economic calculation is first and foremost in their mind.

2020-08-24 19:04:15 UTC

No I mean the worship/obey thing.

2020-08-24 19:04:37 UTC

> I mean it's pretty sad that a lot of people don't do something like have children because the economic calculation is first and foremost in their mind.
@JustLookin

2020-08-24 19:05:00 UTC

facts

2020-08-24 19:05:26 UTC

money destroyed more lifes than any religion

2020-08-24 19:05:32 UTC

Which I would say is pretty close to worshiping something when you're willing to put something like that on the backburner for it. Not to say money shouldn't factor in - just that it should be below something else in the consideration.

2020-08-24 19:06:29 UTC

@Delta But don't you think even the most devout Christians often view the dollar as higher than God

2020-08-24 19:06:40 UTC

Um. No

2020-08-24 19:07:26 UTC

some use christ for dollars

2020-08-24 19:07:36 UTC

?

2020-08-24 19:08:38 UTC

@Delta How many Christians do you think work on Sunday and forego Church for the paycheck?

2020-08-24 19:09:12 UTC

There’s a difference between skipping church and putting money above the ideals of your religion

2020-08-24 19:09:48 UTC

@Delta Even if their bible tells them to?

2020-08-24 19:12:38 UTC

It depends on the Christians personal understanding. There's a decent amount of NT stuff that seems to indicate that it's a-ok "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27), " just for example.

2020-08-24 19:43:05 UTC

@JustLookin I agree whole heartedly that their personal understanding comes into play. Catholicism is one that prohibits working on Sunday. But many do.
