@Agent 34 my first car was a 73 beetle, a clutchles stick and then moved onto a diesel rabbit. I wish I had those 2 cars back today

@Page my first car was a Rambler --- hubby (then HS sweetheart) provided me with it. Ran over a gas pump learning how to drive it - he worked at a service station at the time

@Agent 34 My grandmother taught me to drive in her Rambler. I don't remember the year but I got my permit around 82. She had rigged some sort of shelf in the center console so Buffy, her poodle could ride. I do remember being in it when we heard on the radio Elvis had died.

@Page I learned in my boyfriend's (now hubby) '55 Ford (a standard, also). It was great fun. He'd take me to the riverside to drive in the sand and let me pop the clutch and goose it.
Once I goosed it a bit too much, going from bedrock to sand and spun around, headed for the treeline and ended up practically climbing a big one.
