Someone completely innocent.
He also supported not allowing a lawsuit for the torture said civilian had to go through
He said that Exxon mobile shouldn't be charged for human rights violations they committed in Indonesia because the US didn't have jurisdiction in Indonesia
Even though it's a US company...
and thus, would need to be sued here
He's also advocated for the NSA and metadata collection
Arguing that it shouldn't be limited or blocked whatsoever
So unless you think that companies being prosecuted for violating human rights, a lack of torture, and not enough governmental wiretapping are all blights on America
you really shouldn't be for him
But hey, Trump nominated him.
I used to support Trump, but it's impossible to at this point.
It's a lost cause
Of course, while my ideology has heavily shifted...
I still don't see how one can justify supporting Trump or his nomination for the SC
Whether or not what is "torture" for what you're referencing is actually debatable. On top of that, if you murder someone and flee across a national border, you aren't tried in that new country. You're extradited to the country the crime was committed in. So, Exxon should be tried in Indonesia. *"But they're human rights violations!"* What kind of point is that? If an entity is committing human rights violations anywhere, they aren't held to the laws of a different land. Human rights are not American rights, they're __human__ rights. That means Exxon will not, and should not, be tried by the US government, but by an international court @SilverLining
That still doesn't cover the NSA wiretapping which he endorsed
Also, to add to that...
How is being secretly imprisoned, being denied due process, being denied counsel, being threatened with torture, forcibly disappeared (an international human rights violation), and tortured acceptable?
This was to a US citizen, done by US troops...
It's not "debatable" whatsoever
The crime committed was fleeing to Kenya from Somalia (where the American was studying abroad) after a civil war erupted.
Also, the citizens couldn't file their charges within Indonesia was the government, particularly the military, was complicit.
He also, of course, believes the president should not be able to be prosecuted
As in, the person who occupies the office of the president - not just Trump
He believed Nixon shouldn't have been persecuted in the Watergate Scandal
this is not epic
@SilverLining I have my reserves on the kid, however the issue of the wiretapping is an issue, IMHO I think Trump is a false revolutionary, here to appease the apetite of the potentially revolutionary right wing, bring the simmering water down a few degrees. Then when the waters have clamed, one, two terms later, the dems or the repubs will simply go and continue turning america into a dystopia
it seems to be a method of either 1) stopping the revolution or 2) controlling the revolution before, or after, it happens
are you talking about a right-leaning revolution?
because yeah, no
I feel like President Trump is a puppet to a bigger puppet.
The terms deep state
@JogaFlame Trump is /ourguy/
He is playing 5d chess
Hes too intelligent for you to understand his plans
Trump sucks up to the Jews @Doctor Anon
^
That's what I was thinking
Because he hasn't said shit in terms of Israel.
So I don't know if he's fully our guy.
If he went against Jews he would lose
