I think its something deeper, european peoples have been succesfulyl consumerised for the past what, 30 + years? People are looking to other countries and realising that they have somethoing to not only live for but to die for, there is stucture, order, ancient roots that are understood, they know where they come from. meanwhile euros dont know their own past, or rather it has been destroyed, lost, and as such eople need something to build their identity off of. Not only that most nationalists are men, overwhelmingly a desire for traidtion and for male energy and by that I mean psychology to be permitted. People are tired of being weak and docile. They want to take fat eback inot their hands nad for their people to survive. it makes sense of the world beyond some pointless and illogical nihilism.

and the idea that nationalism largely varies economically is true, tha tand the inner philosophy might vary a bit on who is in out etc.

But the core framework tends to be the same socially

also man has the inherent desire to build and create something that will last for ages

A pretty good argument can be made that is not true for most people on the planet, but ultimately that's not as important if it's true or not, because it isn't why nationalism exists

Nationalism and comradery is somewhat of a "social contract" that evolution placed in us for a reason

Because it has historically united people against invaders and encourages people to take care of the land that they occupy.

Thinking it's meaningless because some hick on a farm doesn't love diversity as much as you highlights a lack of understanding of why it exists in humans in the first place.

Saying that Nationalism has historically united people against invaders is very dishonest. Nationalism is a product of the French Revolution, I will agree that it united the revolutionaries to fight against what they felt were tyrants trying to take. However it also caused a bloody civil war in France because it enforced homogenization of the historical provinces of France. Or the retardation that was Hungarian nationalism that tried to magyarize the other ethnic groups, despite only 40% of the country population was Hungarian.

Nationalism is only part of our modern nation-states, problem is, the state and nation is defined by the very few, not the people themselves. Nationalist might screech about foreigners in their country and make fun of liberals, yet they are oblivious to the fact nationalism is closely intervened with liberalism and the way liberalism has evolved has also shaped the nation-state with it ideals of tolerance and multi-culturalism.

It is actually pretty funny to think about. How nationalism and the birth of democratic nation-states where the nation could now rule themselves and people could take part in the new sovereign state by the democratic process. But now this state has failed and need to integrate and assimilate other groups to either become a multi-cultural society or create a new nation with the new inhabitants.

From "liberating" themselves from multi-national empires to later become a nation state and to our modern time were said nation state is destroying the nation they swore to protect, said nation that ironically was more free under the historical empire.

The US economy has been on the up regardless. The Dow Jones has been topping out regularly for years and years. Recessions happen every decade and it has been a decade since the last one, so of course the economy is up and its not really thanks to Trump.
