And that leads into another reason I'm against urbanization, because large cities develop a feeling of entitlement when they vote differently than the rest of the province/country. The CAQ won the election, but Montreal is crying because they voted Liberal.

Both urban and rural regions have upsides and downsides

Rural regions tend to be more closely knit, however, they often tend to be more xenophobic and hostile towards outsiders

Urban regions I'd argue are more accepting, but tend not to have as many built-in support networks

Suburban regions just combine the worst of both tbh

That is true, however rural areas have lower suicide rates and lower crime rates. So, if people are not killing themselves, (which means they are at least ok with life), and other people are not killing them, then living in rural areas would be a lot better.
And about them being hostile to outsiders, you may be right here, but who cares. Movement to rural areas is very low anyways.

I mean

If you live in a place with an incredibly low population density

Crime is going to be a lot lower, as there's less people and you presumably know more of them

Plus you've probably got some land of your own to boot
