```Materialism is a form of philosophical monism which holds that matter is the fundamental substance in nature, and that all things, including mental aspects and consciousness, are results of material interactions.
In Idealism, mind and consciousness are first-order realities to which matter is subject and secondary. In philosophical materialism the converse is true. Here mind and consciousness are by-products or epiphenomena of material processes (the biochemistry of the human brain and nervous system, for example) without which they cannot exist. According to this doctrine the material creates and determines consciousness, not vice versa.
Materialist theories are mainly divided into three groups. Naive materialism identifies the material world with specific elements (e.g. the scheme of the four elements—fire, air, water and earth—devised by the pre-Socratic philosopher Empedocles). Metaphysical materialism examines separated parts of the world in a static, isolated environment. Dialectical materialism adapts the Hegelian dialectic for materialism, examining parts of the world in relation to each other within a dynamic environment.```
EY! Does anyone have any reliable sources/studies that detail the mental differences between the sexes ?
Tag me or preverably PM me if you do!
Thanks!
2018-11-19 18:39:49 UTC
@Zusheng Not so much studies however look into any psych text book (developmental or otherwise) and the differences are listed across cultures, study wise, etc. Cultures tend to have 99% of the time the same gender roles for example. Hence, the obvious conclusion that hte books try to dismiss cuz muh SJW, is sex is tied to gender expression
"“I know that I am still Vietnamese, because my history is in my blood and my culture is my umbilical cord. Even if my Vietnamese is imperfect, which it is, I am still connected to Vietnam and to Vietnamese refugees worldwide.”
The Vietnamese American identity is complex and layered with loyalty, pride, as well as loss, resentment, and trauma. Growing up, I have always had a hard time placing seemingly resentful emotions within politically charged stories that would often unfold between my family and parents friends. Through classes I’ve taken at UCLA I’ve realized how much of this is fueled not by a grudge, but a traumatic history of loss. The significance here is that this history of loss is part of my Vietnamese culture. And from learning these stories I’ve learned to understand my family’s love and pride in the country they once knew as well as their new one; and that their gratefulness for everything they have worked for is from what they once lost.
I think one of the most important things we can do is to get to know the stories of our parents and grandparents, even in the little or broken language we have."
2018-11-20 12:02:53 UTC
I know the above quote is not related to anything or any debates written here currently, however it demonstrates that this genetic identity of people does in fact penetrate generations. This quote is from someone I used ot know, have friended on FB in rsponse to the times magazine "Who gets to be american". Generally speaking it demonstrates that these people have a complete disconnet ot america, they are not american but tell them to go back home and they will REEEE at you.
First of all, Fascism is not an ideology, it's a worldview, a philosophical perspective of viewing the world.
2018-11-20 14:27:40 UTC
fascism is a philosophy
2018-11-20 14:28:08 UTC
This applies to the amerimutt meme quite well
2018-11-21 01:14:24 UTC
I'm personally of Irish, Dutch, Polish, Swiss, Italian, German, and Hungarian ancestry. What is the story of my heritage?
2018-11-21 01:14:40 UTC
European? I inherit the story of Europa?
2018-11-21 02:28:21 UTC
Search the migration patterrns
2018-11-21 13:44:44 UTC
@DeepLove depends, you might be majority any of those things, alternatively you are an amerimutt and simply are ethnic american, something new. Much like modern Hungarians are also a mix.
2018-11-21 13:56:33 UTC
I'm a fairly homogenous mix, third or fourth generation of immigrant blending.
I do refer to myself as American. Specifically White American, because I don't identify with the blacks, the hispanics, or even the Orientals who have been here for just as many generations as my ancestors (perhaps longer). I don't have much Anglo in me, I don't come from any WASPs as far as I know, so my story does not extend back in this continent enough for me to consider myself such an inheritor. So while for practical reasons I am American, I can't say I am the carrier of some sort of American spirit beyond the fact I exist in the modern incarnation of the country.
2018-11-21 14:06:09 UTC
When people like C. G. Jung talk about the lack of a Cthonic quality in the Ashkenazim, no quality of blood and soil, I have no choice but to say, well damn, me too. For the modern America certainly is not my home, most of its organs of power and control have declared war against people of my demographic. I don't have a homeland, I don't have an unbroken narrative of ancestry. I have European-ness, a coarse sort of heritage of merely continental genetic origin. I'm simply 'White'.
I've had to create my own story, for better or for worse, in order to have a reason to survive. I inherit the project of Beauty and Nature of the Greeks, the project of Imperium and Law of the Romans, the project of Truth of the good parts of the Enlightenment. These values are those that resonate within my soul. I cannot necessarily claim they are my inheritance by blut, but they are the torch I choose to bear.
2018-11-21 16:03:04 UTC
@DeepLove Generally you are in the toughest spot, you were born as you were of no foault of your own to bear the burden of such a fate. You are truly something new and unique and it is in fact you and our descendants that will come to form an inheritance and story of what nation what ethicity you are. You may never live to personally experience such a thing, however your children may have a head start, or you may have created this very thing for them.
However I suggest taking a DNA test, hell 60% is enough to trace back your ancestry, and generally most americans still have that % majority of pure blood in them. But as time goes on and hundreds of years pass american may bcome and has really become its ethnicity, its on phenotype the issue is it lacks a culture and institution and solid group to embody it. What was started by the pilgrims and first settlers at best lives on in the rural countryside, maybe the amish etc. But fro my time in the US, on the west coast, any semblence of anything has long been lost.
2018-11-21 16:12:16 UTC
@DeepLove We belong to Mother Europe
2018-11-21 16:12:29 UTC
Not to a bastardized US
2018-11-21 16:24:29 UTC
I remember staring back at the city while my class had managed to put a pregraduation party on a boat, renting it for the evening with snacks form the parents nad everything. I danced and I had my fill and I found myself staring oddly at the cityscape. And I realized for all its magnificence and size that it was insurmountably filled only with vanity. There was no meaning no purpose, simply paper thin characters walking in an empty city, bodies with no soul no purpose and no goal. Drinking their agony away as the tock is ticking down. Thats also the year when i became authentically depressed and that continued for 4 years, I had a GF at the time so shit wasnt so bad but she was a manipulative american cunt. Also you guys are beyond fucked as far as the dating market goes.
2018-11-21 16:53:39 UTC
The architecture itself contributes to this feeling of purposelessness. Giant blocks of steel, stone and glass. No aesthetic or artistic beauty. Suburban centers are even worse. At least the city structures impose on you with their sheer magnitude. Outside is ugly bare concrete, parking lots, and global brands as far as you can see. Much has been said on this, nothing has been done in any significant way.
