Chinese banks loan money to these poor countries to invest in infrastructure » these countries use these loans to pay chinese companies to build infrastructure in said country » these countries then cant pay back the loan so they sell the newly built infrastructure to another chinese company. all the while the chinese government owning or partially owning the said companies
and what happens is that a lot of countries end up selling out core industries to the country's sovereignty to a chinese firms, and effectively become puppets of the chinese state
and internationally, whenever a crisis shows up they will side with china, otherwise their electricity is cut/ their trains stop working/ their ports are closed
"it's very unlikely but the administration still could've passed it without Obama knowing"
they would have to let Obama know
Obama runs the whole thing
That doesn't mean it would replace US @Similar Scowl
in any way
it would replace the US in terms of global influence
and they are already surpassing the US in economic terms
although trump has made the US economy grow faster
They can still pass it without him knowing, I can also lend something from you without asking your permission
it's not clear that this is a trend or just an isolated event
"and they are already surpassing the US in economic terms" Barely
Chinese GDP PPP per capita is around 14k
or less
for now
compare that to US with 60k
Just for noz:
it's been like that for ages
you have to look at it from a larger historical lens
The Chinese will become the 1st world's econimic power by 2060.
You might be right in terms of influence in countries that are underdeveloped
however not all of it
where was china 30 years ago compared to the US?
and where are they now?
^
lets take a look
you mean in the 80s
?
all projections point to china surpassing the US
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/12/the-world-s-top-economy-the-us-vs-china-in-five-charts/ this one has nice charts
US was at 14k GDP PPP per capita in the 80s
china was at 630 gdp ppp per capita
now they're at 16k GDP PPP per capita
source?
^
the US grew almost 500% in 30 years?
Because my sources say that the Chinese GPD has been massively increased within 20 years.
