Roughly

2018-03-06 18:00:01 UTC

a Republican isn't winning NY

2018-03-06 18:00:13 UTC

@🎃Boo-ton🎃 a Republican can definitely win NY lol

2018-03-06 18:00:17 UTC

I live here

2018-03-06 18:00:26 UTC

it's a +20 democrat state

2018-03-06 18:00:31 UTC

so

2018-03-06 18:00:33 UTC

It really hinges on Upstate.

2018-03-06 18:00:49 UTC

unless nobody in long island votes, it's not going blue

2018-03-06 18:00:50 UTC

@Nuke Upstate, Staten Island, Suffolk County are the red areas

2018-03-06 18:00:52 UTC

But even NYC usually has Staten Island go red when a Republican is winning nationwide.

2018-03-06 18:01:01 UTC

Suffolk too

2018-03-06 18:01:07 UTC

@🎃Boo-ton🎃 Long Island is more red than NYC, what do you mean

2018-03-06 18:01:21 UTC

you would need to see record turnout in Staten Island and Upstate,

2018-03-06 18:01:51 UTC

and elections are determined by Manhattan, Kings, Queens, and the Bronx

2018-03-06 18:01:56 UTC

literally nowhere elese matters

2018-03-06 18:02:03 UTC

And you'll need to flip left-wing NYC suburbs

2018-03-06 18:02:09 UTC

so, the pathway to winning New York State for a Republican is

-High turnout in Staten Island, Suffolk County, the red areas of Nassau County (maybe deporting MS-13 might go a long way there), the red areas of Upstate (there are some blue splotches like college towns and small cities)

-Winning moderates and independents in NYC

2018-03-06 18:02:20 UTC

There are lots of Trump supporters in NYC who didn't bother voting in 2016

2018-03-06 18:02:27 UTC

because they thought it was a lost cause

2018-03-06 18:02:40 UTC

if you get those people to turn out as well, we have a fighting chance for NY in 2020

2018-03-06 18:02:41 UTC

I noticed that.

2018-03-06 18:02:48 UTC

there are a lot of Democrats in 2016 who didn't vote because they thought Hillary had it in the bag

2018-03-06 18:02:57 UTC

If I recall correctly, the Trump campaign DOES THINK New York is IN PLAY in 2020

2018-03-06 18:02:58 UTC

they'll show up in 2020

2018-03-06 18:03:05 UTC

I can't remember where I read it though

2018-03-06 18:03:08 UTC

There's a lot of Trump supporters in the backgrounds of NYC news reporting.

2018-03-06 18:03:29 UTC

And yeah, Trump even campaigned there in 2016

2018-03-06 18:03:48 UTC

Democrats mocked him for it but Obama campaigned in Louisiana; what's the difference?

2018-03-06 18:04:00 UTC

Louisiana is like the opposite of NYC.

2018-03-06 18:04:07 UTC

We've got 3 left-wing, black-majority cities.

2018-03-06 18:04:15 UTC

And the rest of Louisiana is almost 100% Republican.

2018-03-06 18:04:52 UTC

@Nuke Trump campaigned in NYC? I know he held rallies in Buffalo and other such places

2018-03-06 18:05:09 UTC

Oh I meant NY as a whole

2018-03-06 18:05:20 UTC

I actually met Democrats mocking Trump for doing that at all.

2018-03-06 18:05:39 UTC

Btw, do people in New York actually act like Hillary is from there?

2018-03-06 18:05:49 UTC

Or do they act like Hillary is from Arkansas, like literally everyone?

2018-03-06 18:06:52 UTC

the problem is Trump is not really a New Yorker,

2018-03-06 18:06:55 UTC

what I mean by this,
