A wall won’t do that. It isn’t like thousands of illegal immigrants don’t climb over or dig under existing fencing and walls yearly

2018-09-26 22:41:20 UTC

Are you stupid?

2018-09-26 22:41:31 UTC

Do you even know how border walls work?

2018-09-26 22:41:57 UTC

We need to actually deport everyone. Every last illegal, none of them should stay. I

2018-09-26 22:42:26 UTC

These walls work.

2018-09-26 22:42:42 UTC

And they ensure that deportations are permanent and block re-entry.

2018-09-26 22:43:39 UTC

They can be helpful if they joined with other effective methods such as tight patrolling of the border, but throwing up a wall isn’t going to just fix our immigration issues magically

2018-09-26 22:44:03 UTC

It is the largest part.

2018-09-26 22:44:23 UTC

The most immediate effect is electorally, the symbolism of it is key.

2018-09-26 22:44:31 UTC

It is permanent, as Lex said.

2018-09-26 22:44:33 UTC

A Wall will significantly reduce entry EVEN IF some people get through.

2018-09-26 22:44:53 UTC

I have stats on it but I'm on my phone rn.

2018-09-26 22:45:24 UTC

In every single primary state Trump ran in, immigration beat every single other issue in importance to the voters.

2018-09-26 22:45:31 UTC

This will help us out much more than some tax cut.

2018-09-26 22:45:35 UTC

Half of illegal immigrants never even crossed the border, they’re visa overstays

2018-09-26 22:46:06 UTC

So?

2018-09-26 22:46:17 UTC

You still have the other half crossing in illegally.

2018-09-26 22:46:21 UTC

No it won’t. Taxes effect the average American a thousand times more than Mexicans walking across the border a thousand miles away.

2018-09-26 22:46:24 UTC

WHO GIVES A SHIT? That's 11 million people at the very least.

2018-09-26 22:46:37 UTC

People can fund ICE whenever they wish to do that

2018-09-26 22:46:52 UTC

@Yellowhammer "No it won’t. The only people who care about the wall are already voting."

that's hard to say. There haven't been any studies/research done on the right-wing voters who might be staying home. We had a guy a while back named Button Mash who claimed he'd stay home because there wasn't a wall, though he could be an extreme outlier, which wouldn't surprise me because the guy is an exceptional autist

2018-09-26 22:47:13 UTC

But the wall is a permanent standing fixture. It defines, "this is Mexico, and this is the United States" and it keeps people who want to cross at bay.

2018-09-26 22:47:39 UTC

if you look at all these special elections, there are large swaths of GOP voters who stayed home

and if you assume polling is accurate, there are a bunch of 'Unlikely' voters who probably lean GOP who aren't sampled in the polls because they don't claim they're likely voters

2018-09-26 22:47:47 UTC

The southern border is also a heavy drug corridor, most of our heroin in the US originates from there.

2018-09-26 22:47:59 UTC

We absolutely could raise our enthusiasm.

2018-09-26 22:48:10 UTC

Fuck taxes. Mexicans have shifted Texas into a tossup, massively increased crime, invariably exist as a fiscal sink and are massively shifting your national culture.

2018-09-26 22:48:29 UTC

Your libertarian platitudes don't answer the questions of the age.

2018-09-26 22:49:04 UTC

I don't believe in high taxes but culture is an existential factor m

2018-09-26 22:49:31 UTC

America survived FDR. It won't survive the brown invasion.

2018-09-26 22:49:45 UTC

It'll alter the nation you know forever.

2018-09-26 22:50:20 UTC

And thus also its values. Is Theseus' ship the same ship if you replace all of its parts?

2018-09-26 22:51:07 UTC

No. It's a different ship deeply averse to anything remotely libertarian.

2018-09-26 23:06:28 UTC

Mexicans are not making Texas D. It’s college educated white suburban cucks

2018-09-26 23:06:42 UTC

That’s where most of the swing towards the Dems is taking place

2018-09-26 23:06:53 UTC

It's both.

2018-09-26 23:07:12 UTC

1st generation mexican immigrants vote for dems incredibly significantly

2018-09-26 23:07:58 UTC

Pete Sessions and Culberson, R’s in suburban district, were safe just 4 years ago. Now, their white constituents have shifted so far to the left that they will both probably lose

2018-09-26 23:08:22 UTC

Pete Sessions is not losing re-election

2018-09-26 23:51:18 UTC

He has about a 40% of winning

2018-09-26 23:51:30 UTC

So he isn’t done for, but odds are he will lose
