😒 any decent ones out there
Not "technically the work"
I own real peltors, you can always find deals on them used for a few hundred.
Few hundred?
Chinese it is
You need an amplified PTT to use them with civilian radios though
Lol, idiot
You realize they retail for $700 right? You get what you pay for... say goodbye to your hesring
Easy solution though... get the cheap non comms shooting earmuffs and just run a cheap in ear under them.
Options for a vhu uhf base antenna?
Any brands i need to look at?
For what radio?
Discone antennas are wide spectrum and will do ham and scanners
Anytone 778
And yeasu ft65r
Also baofeng
Look into a "diamond" brand discone antenna
What do y'all use for Comms? I'm pretty well versed with my Garmin Rino and my GMRS stuff.
Nothing concrete yet @Acadian Adventurer
The Rinos are a favorite of mine. They'll even send text over FRS. It's sorta secure-ish in my mind because it's rare for someone to be monitoring FRS for data packets
What is the minimum y’all recommend for personal comms as well as the “comms specialists” setup
Neat concept for a portable base radio
I have a yaseu 3200dr in the car with a 57 in whip. Works fantastic. And a FTM400xdr at home
Here are some of my radios. Aside from the Baofeng UV-82HP, the rest can do analog, P25Conventional, and P25Trunked. Three of the portables and the mobile base station they are sitting on can do multi-band (136MHz through 861/870MHz). The portable off to the right is a single band, UHF-High only. AES and DES encryption is also possible with all except the Baofeng.
What kind of hearing protection can we use and still hear our radios?
Or anything that would integrate with a BF-F8HP
Without a crazy price tag
An earpiece under over-the-ear earpro could work.
I was thinking about that, wasn't sure about it tho!
I'll try it out
I found ear plugs that have a hole for low decibel noise that is compatible with some radios, gonna try that out
Well i went with the better than no Comms route, until i can budget out a better one.
I know i know, its baofeng
You'll never need more
I do feel i could use a better antenna though
The sainsonic antenna that comes with that one is pretty good, a lot better than the stock uv5r antenna.
well, shiiit, good to know.
It says sainsonic right?
yeah its a sainsonic
Nice
@Yeetasaurus Rex - Nothing wrong with starting with basic.
Ideas for a cheap mobile that has the same coverage of freq as a baofeng. Setting my second rig and need radio and antenna
