Thanks for being around to help us.

2020-05-01 03:23:26 UTC

No problem. How are you set on tourniquets? 😉

2020-05-01 03:23:37 UTC

one 😦

2020-05-01 03:25:46 UTC

I liked the Grafkette, it also doubled as a constricting band for giving IVs. Always had one on my belt loop.

2020-05-01 03:29:48 UTC

I’m just gonna stick with CATs

2020-05-01 03:30:02 UTC

And use the IV start kit ones to constrict for IV

2020-05-01 03:43:16 UTC

CAT or SOFTTW

2020-05-01 03:43:26 UTC

Like a dozen at least

2020-05-01 03:43:31 UTC

Yes, CoTCCC recommended TQs.

2020-05-01 03:45:45 UTC

One CAT for you, that works if everyone's got their own, which they should. Doesn't hurt to have extra. Also, the CAT breaks down under exposure to sunlight, so be sure to pack them away.

2020-05-01 03:47:11 UTC

Too many high-speed operators put them on their MOLLE vests and had them break during crunch time.

2020-05-01 03:48:08 UTC

Well...you’re also supposed to replace TQ’s like, often

2020-05-01 03:50:35 UTC

Ive got 4 for me anyway, staged and covered away from UV light and uniform to rub away at shit

2020-05-01 03:51:03 UTC

Got bags and bags with other medical. It is my 4th job so i have to lol

2020-05-01 03:52:04 UTC

I don’t have the money for CATs honestly.

2020-05-01 03:52:51 UTC

I feel ya. $30 a go its hard to sell them because i cant mark em up from cost really

2020-05-01 03:53:54 UTC

There are external reasons.

2020-05-01 03:54:37 UTC

Im not upset about it, i make money doing training, the shit i sell isnt where i make the $$

2020-05-01 04:00:02 UTC

@[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/ How about 1 CAT for your IFAK, and a couple of Grafkettes for the cheapskates?

https://www.mdsupplies.com/medical-supplies-Graham-Field-Grafkette-Tourniquet-S9KRGRWGFP.html

2020-05-01 04:00:16 UTC

I want two for my IFAK.

2020-05-01 04:01:44 UTC

Never see those before

2020-05-01 04:08:21 UTC

I don’t honestly trust those.

2020-05-01 04:08:30 UTC

They seem not much better than RATs.

2020-05-01 04:22:32 UTC

Yes, the Grafs are less secure than the CATs but they will stop the bleeding as a temporary measure. They're not a CAT replacement. At Ft. Sam I learned to apply TQs high and tight on the limb first, then convert to a pressure bandage or TQ closer to the wound. Same principle applies to the Graf.

2020-05-01 04:27:56 UTC

How wide are they?

2020-05-01 04:30:06 UTC

Hey bois if we can hold off the big hootenanny for 4 more years I can patch you guys up as a physician

2020-05-01 04:30:24 UTC

Though I’d like it to happen sooner

2020-05-01 04:30:25 UTC

Like...surgery patching or?

2020-05-01 04:31:58 UTC

@Benja if you only have 4 years left, you're probably good enough to work on me

2020-05-01 04:32:07 UTC

@[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/ about 3/4" wide. I've still got one from my time in the guard. It wasn't my only TQ.

2020-05-01 04:32:43 UTC

Yeah no

2020-05-01 04:33:17 UTC

TQs with a width that small have been found to cause nerve damage.

2020-05-01 04:33:56 UTC

Like I said, temporary measure.

2020-05-01 04:36:45 UTC

But still, nerve damage is not good in any circumstance.

2020-05-01 04:41:32 UTC

@[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/ I agree, but it's better than bleeding out.

2020-05-01 04:45:25 UTC

Wouldn’t you have a good stream of CATs available as a 68W?

2020-05-01 04:54:36 UTC

@[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/ I carried multiple CATs in my aid bag, yes. The Graf I wrapped around my back belt loops for easy access.

2020-05-01 04:56:46 UTC

Alright.

2020-05-01 05:03:00 UTC

@[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/ you’d be amazed at how bad the medical support logistics are in *some* units

2020-05-01 05:03:32 UTC

I don’t know if I would

2020-05-01 05:03:42 UTC

Considering how fucking stupid military is
