I've never been brave enough to order anything from wish. Then again everything that comes across my feed would get letterheads killing every dog within five miles of my house.

I used to have an alien gear holster, didn't much care for it, went with a vedder holster and I love it, been holding my G19 for 3 years now.

FN is far Superior to the Ruger, but for the price, it’s a great shooter.

I see some ppl like alien gear some people don’t

2020-05-04 02:26:16 UTC

I’ll see what I like over time

2020-05-04 02:26:45 UTC

What one has the nicer trigger @American_AF

2020-05-04 02:42:34 UTC

Anyone local to ga I make holsters currently working on gettin morr mold guns to offer more models.

2020-05-04 02:42:50 UTC

Read this before making a holster purchase. There's so much meme tier garbage out there like the negligently bad hybrid holsters and serpa's

Here's what happens when you carry a pistol without an external safety in a broken in aliengear

2020-05-04 02:49:45 UTC

That was almost me with an m&p once.

2020-05-04 02:57:50 UTC

I'll only ever buy good kydex. When you drop 500-600 on a carry pistol, spending 80 on what's even more important than the pistol itself, the holster, really isn't that much.

2020-05-04 03:16:26 UTC

I occasionally buy cheap shit off wish just to see if it actually works. Occasionally I'm actually surprised sometimes the shit works primo

2020-05-04 03:17:10 UTC

And more often its crap lol

2020-05-04 03:18:02 UTC

Though surprisingly if you do your homework the armour plates can be worth it

2020-05-04 03:22:26 UTC

Oh I buy cheap shit all the time just to test it. I've found some 20 dollar items like off of Amazon and the like.

2020-05-04 03:34:22 UTC

@BugsyBaldwin I don't know if you watch demolition ranch but he posted a video today I believe about buying garbage on wish.com and he bought a "level 5 bullet proof armor plate" and it was like 80 bucks but it also stopped 50 bmg

2020-05-04 03:35:57 UTC

Oh yeah, I saw that. It was a thick steel plate. He also tested their level III armor, which was like 25-30 bucks.

2020-05-04 03:36:10 UTC

The covering was garbage. But the plates themselves held up to .357

2020-05-04 03:36:52 UTC

With that being said... don't buy it, if you can get real plates.

Ceramic and UHWEP (Poly)

2020-05-04 03:44:38 UTC

Demolition ranch is kinda like the lab puppy of gun YouTube. Fun as hell, maybe not the brightest, and definitely shouldn't be trusted.

2020-05-04 03:44:53 UTC

Love their videos though

2020-05-04 03:45:53 UTC

Oh yeah, cool dude, fun content. Not something to even consider for life saving equipment

2020-05-04 03:46:43 UTC

In other news, doing tons of reading on the ar10. Apparently you can put an a5 receiver extension with an ar10 buffer spring and carbine buffer weight on there?

2020-05-04 03:47:29 UTC

I mean you can adjust your buffer weight on your own, so it’s at least theoretically possible

2020-05-04 03:48:26 UTC

I'm just sorta torn on the stock. Lots of people use fixed stocks though it doesn't seem that versatile

2020-05-04 03:48:51 UTC

Been looking at the b5 sopmod because I've used it before and enjoyed it

2020-05-04 03:51:05 UTC

I would run an LMT-DMR or a magpul PRS probably, but that’s because my use of AR10’s is almost always precision employment

2020-05-04 03:51:28 UTC

Or a B5 precision stock

2020-05-04 03:53:34 UTC

I wasn't going to him for advice, I just wanted to see what would happen to chinesium garbage

2020-05-04 03:55:15 UTC

Always fun to watch
Also dang, those stocks are more expensive than I thought

2020-05-04 03:55:24 UTC

Fair enough. The commentary isn’t necessarily directed at you, but people who lurk or read these chats later

2020-05-04 03:55:53 UTC

Ah once you start buying nice glass the stock doesn’t seem like a big deal

2020-05-04 03:56:51 UTC

Fair enough, this is an educational forum

2020-05-04 03:57:04 UTC

Yeah, stuff adds up though. I'll likely be doing this like my last rifle, one major part per month or so

2020-05-04 03:58:32 UTC

Found a long rifle range in my state that looks promising. No membership, no nra bullshit, supposedly pretty laid back, and a mile long full of steel targets

2020-05-04 04:31:03 UTC

A lot of "meme tier" gear is fine if you have a basic understanding of how each piece is meant to be used and can identify points of failure yourself. If you can just throw money at engineers, then good for you. Buy Crye and pay someone to make custom kydex for you. But for everyone else, there is a lot of value and utility to be gotten from poverty gear if you have a fuckin clue and can address problems yourself. Condor PCs and Alien Gear holsters are perfect examples. Condor has issues with shitty stitching. That's the primary problem with most budget PCs. If you know where and how PCs tend to break, it's very easy to reinforce those areas yourself. A $70 PC and a $5 sewing kit can be completely serviceable. And the difference between having guys with serviceable gear or being by yourself with Gucci shit is a big difference.

Alien gear holsters are much the same. If you have an ounce of mechanical aptitude and experience with service holsters, you can easily identify the failure points of an Alien Gear and fix all of them with a little bit of grease and a small tube of loctite.

I get that the ideal setup is everyone having a BCM build with full Crye kit, but that's fantasy nonsense for desk jockeys. If you want to form cohesive local groups, you have to be able to work with and optimize budget gear.

2020-05-04 07:05:51 UTC

How would you guys feel about bolt enhancements? I’m looking into being more of a gunsmith and I would love to help people keep their rifles functioning flawlessly. I would be more than happy to start replacing and staking gas keys and cam pins, as well as extractors for those who would like that service.

2020-05-04 07:08:56 UTC

Any of you bastards built a fal?
